A Visit to Hospital

Yesterday, my wife was not feeling well. She had fever since 2 days, with body pain and chills. We decided to go to our nearest hospital, the one we've been visiting for years.

The doctor there knows us very well for the last 30 years! He has treated our whole family, from my daughter to both of us. He was Chief Medical Officer in Modi Industry Ltd. hospital then but now here as incharge of O.P.D.

We reached around 11 am parked my scooter at the end corner. The hospital was not too crowded, but there were a few patients already in the queue. Some gentlemen with cold and cough, and a couple more waiting quietly. We took a token and sat on the chairs in the lobby outside O.P.D.

Time was passing slowly. My wife was resting her head on my shoulder, sipping water from the bottle I carried.

After about 15 minutes, I went up to the counter and politely asked the nurse if we could see the doctor soon. She said he's busy with one more patient. So, I knocked softly on the doctor's door and spoke to him.

He looked up, smiled, as he recognized me right away. I asked how long he was there? he said he will be here until 1. I explained my wife's not well.

He said, "Don't worry, I'm here for 2 more hours. You will get your turn properly. Take this paracetamol for now, and wait a bit."

I felt relieved. His familiar voice made everything better. I went back to our seat. You know in this busy life, it's good to have a doctor who knows your history like family.

In the end, we got our full consultation. Later he checked her and prescribed some tests and medicines. Now, she's recovering at home. Small things like this remind us how important trusted doctors are in our lives.
