The Diary Game: When Family Makes Everything Better 🏠 (03/04/2026)
Hello Steemits! This is @gideonova and welcome back to another episode of my diary. To be honest, today wasn't the busiest of days, but there were still some exciting and heartwarming moments worth sharing. So let's get into it!
My morning started with a pleasant surprise — NEPA had brought light! What made it even more unexpected was the fact that there had already been light for over four hours in the middle of the night, so I genuinely thought it would take a while longer before they restored it again. But there it was, and I wasn't going to waste a single second of it. I immediately plugged in my power bank, phone, torch light, and anything else that needed charging, then headed out to pump water.
I stayed by the pump until it was completely done — no leaving halfway and coming back. While I handled that, my brother took charge of warming the leftover food inside. It's those little moments of unspoken teamwork that make home feel like home. When I was done pumping, I went in to brush my teeth, then headed straight to feed my dog and also changed his drinking water. Can't be taking care of the house and forget about him! 🐾 After all that, I finally sat down to eat — rice and beans, my reliable go-to. I made it even better by eating while watching a movie on my laptop. Honestly, there's no better combination. With nothing else pressing to do, I just let the movie run and enjoyed the moment until afternoon.

When NEPA eventually took the light, hunger had already crept in right on cue. I finished off the remaining rice and beans for lunch and then it was game time — literally. Me and my brothers jumped into some games and let me tell you, it got competitive fast. There were arguments flying around about who was the better player, who made the wrong move, who cost the team the round — and honestly? That's exactly what made it so enjoyable. The banter was half the fun. We kept at it right up until almost evening, laughing and arguing the whole way through. 🎮 ---

By evening, the house shifted into productive mode. My mom lit the coal pot to start cooking, my brother was put on dish duty, and I was handed the task of picking beans. At first glance it might sound like a lot, but when everyone has a role and everyone is doing their part, work just flows. The house felt alive in the best kind of way — everyone contributing, everyone present.

When I finished picking the beans, I cleaned up my spot and went over to assist my mom with the cooking. By that time my brother had already finished with the dishes and was carrying them inside. It all just came together naturally. Once the cooking was done, we cleaned up the environment, I fed my dog one last time for the day, and we all sat down to eat before calling it a night. 🍽️
It was a simple day, no doubt. But sometimes simple is exactly what you need — light when you least expect it, laughter over a game, and family that works together without being asked twice. Those are the moments that matter.
