The Diary Game: When Plans Change But the Day Goes On (06/04/2026)

Hello Steemits! This is @gideonova and welcome back to another episode of my diary. Today was a mix of exciting and disappointing moments, and I am going to tell you all about it. So let's get into it!

My morning started with some disappointing news — we wouldn't be able to attend our Christian service in person today. The car was running low on fuel and with the current fuel prices being what they are, filling up just wasn't an option. Taking public transport was out of the question too, since the hike in fuel prices had also driven transport fares up significantly. It was a little disheartening at first, but thankfully there was an alternative — we would be joining the service on Zoom. Not the same as being there in person, but still a blessing to have the option. 🙏

While we waited for the meeting to start, my mom and I got busy in the kitchen. We cooked and prepared pepper while also finishing off the beans I had started cooking the day before, adding the remaining ingredients to bring it all together. Once we were done, I fed my dog, and we sat down to eat. I had rice and beans with pepper — a proper Sunday meal if you ask me. 🍛

Around 9AM we joined the Zoom meeting, and while it was good to be part of the service, the network had other plans. The connection was unstable and it made it difficult to hear the lectures clearly, which was a little frustrating. Still, I was able to piece together enough to follow along. The session ran for about two hours and covered a really meaningful topic — avoiding sexual immorality. It was informative and thought provoking, and by the time we wrapped up around 11AM, I felt like I had gotten something valuable out of it despite the network struggles. With the morning done and nothing immediately calling for my attention, I picked up my phone and jumped into some Free Fire matches. Boredom is the best motivation to game, and I played until my stomach started reminding me it was time to eat. 😄

For lunch I had beans and garri — simple, satisfying, and exactly what I needed. After eating I got back to gaming, but this time with my best friend joining in. That's when things got both fun and painful. We lost. Every. Single. Match. 😭

It was honestly hurtful in the moment, but we were laughing through most of it because the banter never stopped. Losing with your best friend somehow hits different from losing alone — there's still something enjoyable about it even when you're frustrated.
While we were in the middle of our losing streak, I noticed the sky starting to shift. The clouds gathered, the air cooled down, and before long the rain came pouring down. It was one of those rains that just instantly changes the whole atmosphere — everything felt calmer, cooler, and more relaxed. It eventually stopped as quietly as it started, leaving behind that fresh after-rain feeling that makes everything feel clean. 🌧️

By evening NEPA finally came through with the light, and I wasted no time. I charged all the essentials and went out to pump water while my mom cooked with my brother by her side assisting her. The evening had that familiar warm energy of everyone doing their part. When everything was done, I fed my dog and we all sat down for dinner. I had beans and garri again — clearly today was a beans and garri kind of day and honestly I have no complaints. 😂 It was a Sunday of unexpected changes and small disappointments, but also laughter, rain, family, and faith. Sometimes the day doesn't go the way you planned, but it still finds a way to give you something good. 💛 What about you? I hope you enjoyed and had a wonderful Sunday.

See you next time! 💕

Thank you so much for reading my diary! 💕
