Hello lovelies, it’s your girl Kemkem1. I hope you all are doing well. Today was an emotional and busy day for me as we held my uncle’s funeral. We had already traveled to the village the previous day and started preparations. When I woke up, the women were already in the kitchen cooking, so I began sweeping and mopping the entire house to help out. Shortly after, my dad told me to get ready because I would accompany him to the mortuary. I had just gone in to shower when he called me out, saying there was no time and I could bathe later, so we left immediately. It was my dad, my uncle’s wife, his son, and I who went first, though others joined us later. When we got to the mortuary, my dad paid the remaining balance, and he was asked to confirm the body. He checked and confirmed it was truly his brother. After that, the attendants placed the casket into the ambulance, and we all headed back to the family compound. The journey felt quiet and heavy as everyone reflected on the loss. When we arrived in the village, the casket was carefully brought down from the ambulance and taken inside the house for the lying-in-state. It was a sad moment for everyone as we prepared to say our final goodbyes before moving to the field for the funeral ceremony.

My father moderated the lying-in-state session, and it was a very emotional moment for everyone. There were tears all around as family and friends gathered to pay their last respects, but God comforted us and gave us strength until the session came to an end. After that, they all moved to the field for the funeral ceremony, while I returned to my father’s house to shower and freshen up. I also had plans to attend my friend’s father’s funeral, and thankfully, it was not far from my dad’s village. After bathing, I dressed up and began asking people for directions. The place was clearly explained to me and also to the bike man who was taking me there. When I arrived, I saw my friend looking very sad, her eyes were swollen from crying. I tried my best to console her, even though I knew only God could truly comfort her heart. At that time, the pastor was already preaching, so I quietly sat down and listened for a while. I couldn’t leave immediately out of respect for the service. After some time, I spoke to my friend and told her I had to leave so I could return to my uncle’s funeral. I then made my way back, continuing the day with a heavy heart but trusting God for strength.

When I returned to my uncle’s funeral, the ceremony at the field had already ended, and everyone had moved back to my father’s house. The entertainment session was ongoing, and there was a lively atmosphere despite the sadness of the day. I quickly joined others who were serving food to the guests, making sure everyone was attended to. It was a busy moment as many people were present, and we had to move fast to serve them well. After a while, myself, my sisters, and the others who helped with serving decided to eat. I dished out food for everyone and then sat down to eat with them. It felt good to finally rest a bit after all the stress and movement. Once we finished eating, we started gathering and packing the used plates and took them to the backyard where some women were already washing. Those women were very helpful and hardworking, and they assisted us in washing everything quickly. Their support made the work much easier and faster for us, and it was truly a big relief after such a long and stressful day.

Since we had people who helped us wash the plates, we continued by sweeping and cleaning the house. My father always likes everywhere to be neat at all times, so we could not relax or slow down when it came to sweeping and mopping. We worked hard until the whole place was sparkling clean. Meanwhile, my dad was still receiving visitors, so there was always something to do. Just when we thought we were done, another task would come up again, which made the day even more tiring. As time went on, people gradually started leaving until only family members were left in the house. We then checked the remaining food and discovered that a full cooler of rice had spoilt. However, my dad insisted that we should warm it, believing it was still good. I obeyed him, set the fire, and warmed the rice, but it was clear that it had already gone bad, so it had to be thrown away. After everything was finally settled, we all went to shower and freshen up. It had been a very long and stressful day, filled with both sadness and hard work. Later, we each went into our different rooms to rest our bodies. Thank you very much for taking your time to read through my day.
