The Diary Game: Preparing A Local Dish And Attending A Marriage Ceremony (20-12-2025)

The Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.” (Genesis 2 vs 18) That was the scripture read yesterday at the marriage ceremony. Yesterday, I attended the wedding of my church member, Uduak Augustine Udo at Ikono. The church members were supposed to meet in church by 10am. I woke up early to prepare. I was really excited about this wedding because Uduak is a very good friend to be and she is also my name same.

I made our local dish for breakfast, Ekpnkwor. This meal is very nutritious. It's made with cocoyam and water yam. Ingredients for this meal include, crayfish, fish, periwinkle, palm oil, seasoning cubes and vegetable leaf. With this, you should know that the food is very nutritious.

After eating, I had my bath, got dressed and left to church. I packed the gift I wanted to present to her. I got her a large cooking pot. I headed out with my daughter to church, where we will be meeting with other people.

We left for Ikono by 11:30am. It was a very long journey. The journey began smoothly untill we got to the main Ikono town. The road was really dusty and rough. Coupled with the harmattan, it was really bad and it affected me a lot. Our driver wasn't really conversant with the place. We ended up in the wrong route. A bike driver by the road, redirected us. We got to the marriage venue by 1:10 pm. The wedding had already begun. We met the broom unveiling his bride.

After the unveiling, the took their vows and exchanged rings. The bride broke down in tears of joy. It was a really emotional moment. What seemed impossible, God made it a reality and it's worth being thankful for. The pastor raised a song and everyone danced happily. The bride wasn't left out, she danced and danced with so much joy. The smile on her face was contagious.

I presented my gift and left. Returning home was less stressful. I got to that house at exactly 6:10pm. I pray God bless their union and keep the marriage strong.
