We are in the month of October and this made is one of the months for Diocesan meetings this year. On Sunday 12th October, 2025 was the 2nd to the last diocesan meeting for this year and the last one is holding in December but I don't know the particular date yet. Today's post is all about the highlights from yesterday's meeting from some part of the mass to the ending of the meeting and I want Steemians to have a pictorial view of all that happened that day that is why I uploaded more than 12 pictures in this post.

I'm an Altar Server and I always do my duties in the catholic church properly because I know it's benefits and I also have passion for it. The venue for this month diocesan meeting was very far and I didn't even thought much of attending the meeting because the venue is very far from my place and I knew I was going to be very busy yesterday because I made a schedule for myself last week. I got an idea of what happened in the meeting from the Diocesan platform and I was very pleased with how those who attended the meeting kept us (those who couldn't attend) updated.

⬆️ on their way to the place ⬆️

People mostly go to that place through Water Transportation but we decided to go through Land Transportation because it was going to be safer and I made use of the statement we because I was among those who didn't attended the meeting, that gave this idea of going by road. All the representatives from different deaneries gathered together at the cathedral planning to take off by 7:30am and everyone were warned not to arrived there before that time.

I was very happy that all the guys that planned to attend the meeting arrived at the cathedral on time and entered the bus they hired, nobody was left out. They started their journey to the catholic church in that environment that was going to host the meeting this month. It was a journey that lasted for more than an hour and they arrived at the place safely and came down from the bus. They entered inside the catholic church and attended the last mass for that day which was the 10am mass.

⬆️ Thanksgiving procession ⬆️

The mass started and the process were followed accordingly. When it was time for Thanksgiving all the Altar Servers in the church including those that served the mass, went to the back of the church which was the main entrance. They carried some items they were going to give to the Reverend father and danced happily to the altar together. This is something that always happen in every catholic church at the day they are hosting either a denaery or a diocesan meeting.

When they all arrived at the front of the altar the Reverend father prayed for them and blessed them with the holy water then they went back to their seat except four Altar Servers who were going to carry the Oblata which contains the body and blood of Christ and also the offerings from the mass.

Two Altar Servers who were carrying the Acolytes were at the front while two other Altar Servers were at their back with one carrying a tray of the host/communion which represents the body of Christ and then the wine which represents the blood of Christ. Two other people were at their back and they were carrying the offering money.

When they arrived at the front of the altar the Altar Servers with the Acolytes bowed to the big Crucifix at the altar and went to their seat while some Altar Servers took the host, wine and the offering. The Reverend father then blessed the people that processed with the things.

The consecration part of the mass started and ended successfully then the Catechist made an announcement while everyone sat and listened attentively. When the mass ended the Altar Servers that served the mass and also some that didn't serve, took a picture with the Reverend father in the altar before the procession to the back of the church started.

The Thurifer was at the front while the Cross bearer and the two Acolytes were directly at his back. The Layreaders who read the readings for that mass walked directly at their back and they were two ladies with a very nice garment. The remaining Altar Servers were at the ladies back and the Catechist made walked at their back then the Reverend father walked directly from the Catechist back and he's always the one to be the last at such processions.

⬆️ The welcome address ⬆️

The meeting started at once and most members of the church who weren't part of the association went back to their various homes. A welcome address was presented by the president of the deanery that catholic church is categorized under. It was a well detailed address and after that, things written in the agenda for the day were tackled. We needed a new Diocesan Sacristan because the previous one died this year March and I talked about his death that period in some of my steemit posts. May his soul rest in peace Amen.

There wasn't too much crowd in the meeting because the place was very far though I expected more Altar Servers in that environment to turn up for the meeting. When the meeting ended refreshment was shared to everyone to eat and after that they entered the bus again and started their journey home.

I think most of them dropped at the cathedral where they first gathered then they went to their various homes direct from there. I thank God for journey mercies and I'm glad the meeting was successful. I will try to see if I can attend the next one in December. There's a deanery meeting next month and I will surely attend it.
