The Diary Game:[27/06/2026] Cooking and Working.
Good day Steem Fam and welcome to my first diary session, @prettypee. Today's episode of my diary session, I will be sharing with you how my Saturday went. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
I woke up today feeling grumpy and a slight headache. I wasn't exactly sure what caused it, maybe my body was reacting to the stress I'll face ahead. As much as I wanted to stay in bed, the busy day ahead was my motivation to get out of bed. I said my prayers and started preparing for my day around 7am.
The first thing on my mind was breakfast. I got into my kitchen and mixed my batter consisting of flour, eggs, sugar, butter and water and made some fluffy, tasteful pancakes for breakfast which I paired with yoghurt. I enjoyed it with my sister who was also rushing to go for a makeup gig. This is one of our favourite breakfast combinations because it's filling without making one feel bloated or heavy. I knew my day would be pretty busy so I packed my lunch consisting of spaghetti and fish. I prepared it how I love it, garnished with vegetables.
At 9:20 a.m, I arrived the plaza where my tailoring shop is located dressed in white fitted top and brown pants tailored by me. I chose 9 am as the resumption time because it's flexible. It helps my students from far and near report on time and it also helps moms to prepare before coming. Starting at 9 gives everyone time to arrive and settle in without unnecessary pressure.
"Outcome of Today's class: Pattern drafting"
I made small talk with the security man of our plaza who was advising me on how to secure my tailoring shop due to the repeated theft cases in the area. I thanked him and left to my shop and all my students were around, preparing for the day ahead. We said our pleasantries and the day started with classes on pattern drafting. They were so attentive, and I was beyond impressed with how engaging the class was as it was their first class about the topic. They also asked meaningful questions and that is something that completes me as a fashion tutor. My students asking meaningful questions makes me believe I'm doing a good job at teaching.
" My juicy Agbalumo. I couldn't get more because it is costly.
Around 12pm, I began making my clients outfits. I had 2 dresses to deliver and I was just rounding the first one when I noticed I didn’t get an important accessory for the dress- an applique. I quickly rounded up the dress. Honestly, I was so pissed at myself for forgetting something so crucial but I had to snap out and rush to the market. I took a bike and the ride to the market took 10 minutes. My vendor cooperated today when he saw I was rushing so we didn't engage in our usual gist. I got the exact appliqué I needed so I paid quickly and left. On my way out, I saw a fruit, I don't know the English name but we refer to it as “Agbalumo”. It looked big and juicy and I couldn't resist so I bought to snack on it. I spent just 30 minutes but I wasn't surprised because I was in such a haste.
By the time I got back from the market, my stomach was grumbling. I didn’t realise how much I was starving until I dished my lunch and took the first bite. It tasted so yummy and I completed the meal with chilled water. I really needed that small break because I came out energetic and ready to complete my day. I quickly checked on my students' classwork, gave a few corrections and got back to my sewing machine to finish my work.
"Work of my hands. My clients were happy and satisfied."
At 5pm, my students started dispersing. The closing time is usually 4pm but they stayed an extra hour so they could complete the classwork. This way, they get all the necessary corrections to enable them to draft on their own in their houses. They ensured to keep their space clean and we bade our farewells. I was also done with both dresses and briefly rested my back on the sofa while waiting for my clients. Thankfully, the light was stable today so I did everything quickly and efficiently. Shortly after, my clients- Gina and Doo came for fittings and it was beautiful. The session was interesting. We laughed, created content and they fitted the dresses which they loved by the way. I made all necessary corrections on them and I kid you not, all dresses were screaming perfection. They left with so much excitement and happiness knowing I didn’t disappoint them with their Sunday outfit.
I closed up the shop and got home by 7pm. My entire body ached from the crazy day. The standing, teaching, market runs and sewing. My back and feet hurt so bad. I had a warm bath and the moment the water touched my body, I felt so much relief. Like the fatigue was leaving my body.
To make the evening better, my sister prepared dinner: Vegetable soup paired with Eba. I was elated. During one of our earlier conversations, I mentioned how much I missed the soup and craved it so bad. I was even more excited because she makes it so tasty. Every morsel banged. She just knew the right amount of ingredients and protein to add to the soup. It was at that point I remembered a story about an elder brother selling his birth right to his younger brother for a bowl of porridge. I couldn't blame the elder brother anymore. After the filling meal, I quickly took my dishes to the kitchen and washed them.

"Curled up in my duvet. Tired but fulfilled."
I surfed the Internet after, and replied to existing and potential clients. One thing about my business is that work doesn't end when I lock my shop. In fact it continues even after then. Maybe when I expand the business and get more hands, I'll get a customer relations personnel.
Today was that day, stressful yet fulfilled. I made my students and clients happy. I achieved all I planned to achieve and most importantly, it's a growth for my business that I'm grateful for.
Thank you for stopping by and reading my diary. Bye for now, Till next time 🥰.
