Jerry Wang, who has more than 15 years of experience in the IT sector, spoke with the first light in different aspects of Huawei's current business in Bangladesh. Ashraful Islam interviewed
Prothom Alo: How is the business of Huawei in Bangladesh now?
Jerry Wang: Huawei has been trading in Bangladesh since 1999. Now there are four types of business in Huawei. These are Carrier Business, Enterprise Business, Consumer Business and Cloud Services. Huawei is working to create a network of almost all mobile phone operators and telecommunication providers in Bangladesh through career business. Huawei supports the development of various government and non-governmental organizations through enterprise business. Huawei's smartphones are being marketed through consumer business. Huawei's new business is the cloud service. Through this service, all the digital data of an organization is preserved.

Prothom Alo: What is the situation of these four business?
Jerry Wang: Huawei now has a number in career business in Bangladesh. Each of the four mobile phone operators of the country Grameenphone, Robi, Banglalink and Teletalk use Huawei's tools to create the network. In addition, fixed telephones, BWAs, NTTANs, such as telecommunications providers, they also use Huawei's equipment. There is no company near Huawei in career business in Bangladesh. Huawei's growth is also very good in Consumer Business, that is, smartphones business. Huawei has the highest growth among all Chinese brands in the last three years. Although Enterprise Business and Cloud Services are relatively new services, Huawei is doing well here.

Prothom-alo: I want to know more about cloud service.
Jerry Wang: Huawei has business in 170 countries around the world. Huawei has its own cloud service to store business information in these countries. No other organization has its own cloud service in the world. So much so that it was used only to satisfy Huawe's own needs. But due to customer's demand, Huawei has started to offer this service to other organizations.

Prothom-alo: Besides smartphones, Huawei has several smart devices. What are your goals with these digital products in Bangladesh market?
Jerry Wang: The main goals of all our products are customer centric. Huawei wants to become the most preferred smart device brand by acquiring customer confidence. Huawei is working with the local market demand for this. As we are concerned, the importance of fulfilling the needs of Bangladeshi customers in the use of smartphones is the most important. Huawei has been doing research to add local content to smartphones and make phone more customer-friendly. But in the smartphone business worldwide, 95 percent of Apple and Samsung are in the possession. Huawei is working on a long-term plan for this, so that in the future the smart phone market can survive. For this, 15 percent of Huawei's total income is being spent. More than 80 thousand workers working in Huawei's research department

Prothom Alo: Recently 4G services have been introduced in Bangladesh. How is Huawei working with this service?
Jerry Wang: Huawei plays an important role in expanding the Four -G network in Bangladesh. Huawei has been working to build four-G network in India, Thailand and all South East Asian countries. Only Huawei's Four-G suitable towers in China have more than 20 million towers. However, the biggest barrier to the expansion of the Four-G network in Bangladesh is the absence of the four-G-capable handset. There are no four-wheeled smartphones in the country with 10 percent of total mobile phone users. Besides, there is a problem of viewing content on the Internet in Bangladesh. If there are two problems in Bangladesh, there is a great possibility of expanding the four-G network in Bangladesh.

Prothom Alo: What is the man in Huawei Bangladesh?
Jerry Wang: There are more than five hundred workers in Huawei in Bangladesh. 85 percent of these are Bangladeshi citizens. Local workers of Bangladesh are very talented. They are doing their business well in Bangladesh because of them. We are trying to increase the skills by training these workers. We are taking some talented students from Bangladesh to China every year for advanced training. We want to actively participate in the creation of 'Digital Bangladesh'. In this dream we are helping the government and private sector of Bangladesh.
