The word Humour, derives from the greek word “humor” which can be translated as “Body fluid”. During the early ages the body was thought to be consisting of 4 different “humors” made of Water, Fire, Earth and Air, which were determining the physical wellbeing and capabilities.

A man, just back from a trip abroad, went to an incompetent fortune-teller. He asked about his family, and the fortune-teller replied: "Everyone is fine, especially your father." When the man objected that his father had been dead for ten years, the reply came: "You have no clue who your real father is." Ancient Greek joke

Still today humour (in other referential use) can be used to determine different sets of capabilities of the individual of interest. A study has shown that a developed sense of humour might indicate a higher IQ and in accordance a higher mating success rate for both sexes. Furthermore, it indicated a higher probability of a developed sense of humour among male test subjects.

A very respected German author also pointed out in her book, that an over average intellectual human being prefers a humorous environment created by dry humour, irony and absurd comedy and how intellectual human beings have from the beginning of their lives a better understanding of how to imitate and copy others, which is another preference of humour generally welcomed by such.

Lastly, I would like to show you 2 of my favourite black humour jokes, to inform you all about how smart I am to laugh about this:

[DISCLAIMER: This is just a form of humour and does not represent any thoughts on ethnical evaluations nor racism]

“What starts with N and ends with R and u never wanna call a black person?"
"Neighbor!“

„Why can’t orphans play baseball”
"Because they don’t know where home is."

Feel free to start a very scientific discussion about the ethnical evaluation of black humour or just post your favourite joke:
