Banning Homeschool To Ban Bad Ideas
One of the reasons that people are against homeschooling is that they fear crazy ideas being taught to children by their parents. Now, as far as what you consider to be a “crazy idea,” it's humorously subjective, varying drastically from one person to the next.
Trying to force families to submit to a certain education standard doesn't ensure that crazy ideas won't be passed on.
What is there to stop any parent from teaching their children before or after school?
To infringe their basic liberty and freedom then, and demand that homeschooling be banned over fear of what the children might be exposed to, isn't reasonable enough because the ban doesn't in any way prevent parents from passing on whatever message they would like.
Another fear is that children aren't going to be well educated, but again that's another unreasonable fear that shouldn't be justification enough to infringe on the basic human rights and liberty of people to freely choose their own educational path.
Public schools, despite their best efforts, have produced results today that include millions of people being illiterate.
Plenty of abusive parents have sent their children to private and public institutions, many of them, meanwhile there are many loving, peaceful, and considerate parents who choose to take a more active role in the education of their children with homeschooling. In either case, it's unfair to make misguided assumptions; to assume that the educational path that's chosen says something about the character of the parent. Sometimes there's more to it than that.
My best friend's mother was an elementary school teacher for more than 30 years but she is now retired. What if she wanted to homeschool her grandchildren though, and perhaps one or two other kids from her neighborhood because their parents thought she was well equipped for the job. Should she not be able to because there are some who fear what she might teach? When we allow our lives to be ruled by a few or even a majority it can quickly erode personal liberty and basic freedoms that we take for granted, and push us toward a future that might not look so bright had we instead sought to flourish voluntary exchange and peaceful arrangements.
Homeschooling is only an educational path and it can be vastly beneficial or could be individually limiting, it depends on how the person approaches the experience. And the same is true of any educational journey, it is up to the individual to reap the most benefit out of it as possible.

the main fear is that somebody will be Different;)
and we can't have that 😉
I think it's ridiculous to ban homeschooling. My sister has 8 kids and they're all 'homeschooled' and it works out just fine :)
I would be more worried about what the kids are exposed to at school...
i agree
State educational system always was an oppressive mechanism with the aim to create a ‘socially acceptable’ person, and not to give a real knowledge about the World. Home education becomes a matter of survival — that is, if parents have enough real knowledge and desire to teach their kids.
Yeah, in govern-cement schools they teach really strange, unproven ideas:
Such as:
And many more.
They don't even teach english in govern-cement schools.
So, i wouldn't send any child to those light security prisons.

, please read our whitepaper!Despite that you have made only good points here, I think you have missed the most important one: we have the inherent right to raise our children. We have the responsibility to prepare them for adulthood, and thus the authority to make that happen, including the curriculum they are taught, as we see fit. It is practically inconceivable that arguments against this obvious fact of existence are seriously put forth. I can actually not wrap my head around the argument that any group or person might have a superior right over mine as a parent to indoctrinate my children. Such people must be completely confident that they are chattel, and somehow agents of government are another species that are naturally overlords. It's mind-boggling.
This isn't stated strongly enough IMHO. Every single study or report I have seen acknowledges that homeschooled children are better educated statistically speaking, and decidedly so. Georgetown pursued my eldest with fervor, offering him internships during summer, and a full ride. I am not sure who was wiser: he to decline their headhunting, or they for recognizing his superior qualities to their potential alternatives.
While I sometimes lament internally he did not accept their inducements, I am also extremely proud he did not. He is doing great, and doing it on his own terms. It wasn't easy to do, but I do not regret homeschooling one bit. I am sure my sons don't either, from the comments I hear disparaging their peers who went to public school. They don't mock or belittle them. They're just exasperated at the lack of grasp of things that seem obvious to them.
Thanks!
