Incredible India Monthly Contest of February #2:Which one is more challenging?
Greetings friends and welcome to my writing on this important topic in this contest.
In your opinion, which one is more challenging: achieving success or retaining it? Share your views! |

Success is what everyone desires. In every sphere we find ourselves, we all look forward to being successful. The ones who are successful are celebrated and everyone wants to be like them. Everyone wants to get to the top but the question remains, getting to the top and maintaining our positions at the top, which is more challenging.
Well, success is no easy thing. We all know that starting from the scratch and working our way to the top require a lot of sacrifice, discipline and even hard work. Many start but are not able to continue because of the difficulties fraught with the path to success.
As much as being successful is challenging, maintaining the success is even more challenging. Alot of persons I know in the past have achieved a measure of success. Some came by hardwork and some by chance. One thing I have noticed is that not all of them were able to maintain their success.
Over time, some of them disappeared like they never existed. Some crashed , never to be heard of again. Infact some weeks ago, I was discussing with a friend about such things. He made reference to one very popular business man in his time who was doing well in business but over time he began to misuse his investors money in living a lavish lifestyle and he ended up in prison.
He was successful but he didn’t have the discipline to maintain his success. And there are many more cases like that. Hence maintaining one’s success is more challenging also because as you keep growing, more responsibilities and expectations are added to your growth, hence the more the challenge.
What is more significant, enjoying our passion or chasing success? Describe! |
|---|
Passion most times points towards purpose. Most times what we are passionate about are things we are born to do and these boils down to purpose. One thing I know is that it can be very unfulfilling to pursue success without passion.
When passion meets opportunities, it will always birth success but I’ve seen and heard alot of people who are successful in life but feel very unhappy. Infact there was a story I know of one very renown and popular doctor who was revered across the nation.
One day an award occasion was organized on his behalf to acknowledge his great achievements in the medical field. On the day of his award, he stood on the stage and started to cry. Everyone was embarrassed including his parents. He told them that all he had accomplished he did for his parents. He was never happy and fulfilled working as a doctor.
He gave the award to his parents and told them that he has fulfilled their heart desires. That now he wants to pursue his passion which is music. So you see, he was very successful yet unhappy because he wasn’t following his passion. There’s a fulfillment that comes when we pursue our passion. Success in the line of our passions is well better than just success outside passion.
What is the definition of achievement according to your perspective? |
|---|
From my perspective, achievement is when we put in our skill or effort to do something and it’s successfully, then we say that we have achieved something. It could be something that has to do with work, a project, in the family, a task or a goal that we set for ourselves.
If for any reason, it didn’t work as planned, then we cannot say that we have achieved but when it is successfully accomplished, then we say that we have achieved something.
Achievements give us a sense of being successful and accomplished and a level of happiness and satisfaction.
