However,we know in this life we are living, it is really full of different decisions,choices,and goals from people all around the world so the way we choose to select people for important positions can surely determine whether we want things to be moving forward or moving backward.


In Your Opinion, What Criteria Should Really Be Considered When Selecting Individuals to Serve on a Selection Panel?

First thing first, a person which will be in the selection panel suppose to have integrity. If the person doesn't have a clean name, how will we trust that the decision which he will make won't be biased? We know that sometimes people do use connection or favouritism to push their own agenda. But if you want to make the panel strong, you will need people which are respected in the community, people that are not easily influenced by bribe or sentiment.

Another criteria is competence. The person suppose to know the area were they select him for. For example, if it's a recruitment panel for hospital, you won't just carry a person which doesn't have an idea about healthcare. It will just be like using carpenter to judge mechanic work. Competence do give confidence that the panel will ask the right questions and judge the candidates well.

Lastly, diversity is very important. If all the panel members is from one background, one gender, or one mindset, the decision can be one-sided. But if you mix it—men and women, young and old, different professional backgrounds—you will get a balanced judgment. That's how fairness will comes in.


According to You, How Significant Is Checking the Background When Selecting Anyone for Anything? Justify Your Viewpoint with an Example!

Background check is something which we shouldn't play with. There are a lot of cases which a person will claim that he or she has certificate, but when you dig deeper, you will see that there are forged document. If you don't check background, you can end up with a person that doesn't have the skills that he claims. That can spoil the whole organization.

Let's say for example: Imagine that one company hire accountant. They didn't check background, they just collect CV and believe what the person wrote. Later, the accountant begin to mismanage funds because he didn't really knows accounting principles. Before you know it, the company lose millions. If they have done background check, they would have discover that the certificate was fake and the experience is a lie. So background check do save both reputation and money.

Even for personal life, background check really matters. Therefore let's say I want to marry someone, i will want to know small about the family, the lifestyle, and the character. It doesn't mean that I am spying, but at least i will confirm that the person is genuine. That's how i will avoid stories that will touch the heart.


Which Qualities Would You Glance at While Selecting Anyone? Explain!

So,If I was to select person, here are the three Main qualities that will always stand out for me:

  • Honesty: No doubt ,If surely a person is truthful, I can rely on him wholeheartedly. Honesty do show in small things—like how the person talk, whether he exaggerate, or whether he admit mistake. We all love to respect a person which is straightforward.

  • Competence: Skill too is very important. No matter how honest the person is, if he don't know the work, he will still fail. Competence do show through experience, knowledge, and confidence in handling tasks.

  • Humility: This one too is underrated but it's the key. We all know that a person that is humble is always open and ready to learn from others , respect others, and doesn't carries ego at all. Surely, having Humility can make teamwork smooth, and it can show that the person can listen before he talks.

If I am selecting a person for panel or even for friendship, its these qualities I will glance at. Because it's them that determine whether the person will add value or just to occupy space.


My Conclusion

Selection is not a small thing. Whether its for job, marriage, or leadership, the criteria which you use will determine the future outcome. Integrity, competence, diversity, and background check is the backbone of any good selection process. And when you glance at qualities, honesty, competence, and humility can shine a lot. If we can apply these principles for our daily life, it will surely reduce mistakes and increase trust in the society.

Integrity is a lost yet essential art in everything one does. Like the Bible says, a good name is better that riches.
