Nowadays, from the moment we wake up, we always make different decisions. No doubt, there are decisions that are small through just thinking, for example like what we will eat for our breakfast today, etc. And there are other big decisions that can change our lives—like relocating to another place, or even deciding who to marry. These choices can build our future ahead, and it's that time it will reveal whether we make the right decision or not.

Which points should anyone keep in mind while making any decisions?

Therefore, having in mind that decision-making is not something we suppose to rush. Whether it's a small or big decisions, these points below is very important:

  • Think about the consequences: Before you decide anything, ask yourself, “If I do this thing , what really can happen?” For example, if you want to resign from your job, think about how you will survive on the process before another one come.

  • Gather enough information: However, don’t just act based on your feelings. If you want to buy land, make sure that you check the documents, ask people that know that land and the area very well. Also confirm that the land has no problem.

  • Consider your values and goals first: Your decisions suppose to align with what you believe and where you want to go. If you value honesty, don't choose any shortcut decision that involve cheating.

  • Seek others advice: Sometimes, talking to trusted people like mentors, elders, or even friends can open one's eyes to things that he or she didn't see. Truly , talking to someone can change our perspective.

  • Don’t fear mistakes at all: Surely, no decision is really 100% perfect no matter how it's well plan. So, even if you make mistake on the decision process, learn from it and keep moving forward.

Do you deem that there are instances in which decisions must be made for the collective benefit of all? Explain!

Yes, definitely there are. Sometimes, we must put the good of everybody above our personal interest. Let me say for example.

During COVID-19 lockdown, many people in this our area, didn't like the idea of staying indoors. But government had to make that decision to protect the whole country. Even if some businesses really suffer so much and in lost, the aim was to reduce the spread of the virus and save many lives.

In community matters too, like when leaders want to decide how to use funds—maybe to fix bad road or build borehole water for the community—they suppose to think about what will help the majority of the people.

Please provide techniques for managing challenging situations effectively.

Life is not always smoothly. Sometimes, we can face tough situations that can surely test our patience and wisdom. So I have some certain techniques which can help us to manage:

  • Staying calm first: When challenge comes, don't rush or panic. Do well to take a deep breath, relax your mind. Why? Because it's when our mind is calm that we can think very well.

  • Just Break the problem down: If the issue is very big, divide it into smaller parts. Lets say for example, if you are owing a rent, or school fees, and light bill, you can just list them all out and tackle just one at a time not to pack all of them together.

  • Prioritizing: Try focusing on the most urgent and important matter first, because it can also help. If your child is sick and your car has spoil, you will first find a way to treat the child before fixing the car.

  • Ask for help: I must say that it's not a weakness for someone to seek support. Try talking to people that can help—whether they will help financially, emotionally, or with advice. It's important.

  • Learning from our past experiences: However,if you have already face that similar challenge before, remember what you did at that moment and what you didn't do. So that you can use that knowledge to guide your next step.

  • Keep your hope alive: Even when things are hard, just try to believe that good time will surely come. Having that kind of mindset alone can surely gives you the strength to push through the decision process.

In all, decision-making is really part of our daily lifestyle. Whether its choosing what we want to eat or how to handle a serious matter, we must surely approach it with a sense, patience, and wisdom. And sometimes, we must think beyond ourselves to make the good choices that will help us and others too.
