Merlin (the miniseries of 1998, and its spin-offs) is the film I have personally experienced the greatest processing and analysis of.

Be it the iconic performance of Sam Neill in the series or the 2008 series and how they viewed the theme of destiny in Camelot, the story of the most renowned warlock of the world is a tower of storytelling. It embodies the hundred-year-old conflict of The Old Ways and the new, which is why it is a relatively common target of my digital rewatches. It deals with sacrifice and magic to an extent that is deeply ingrained in human culture, and it is to its script and lore that I would refer more than any other.

Do you believe in this modern era that this art form still brings excitement to rejuvenate ourselves, besides other art forms? Share your view!.

The contemporary world might be overwhelmed with snackable content and infinite scroll, yet cinema, in particular, the process of re-viewing a favorite, such as Merlin, is a remarkably effective method of refreshment.

Unlike other types of art, which offer us immediate escapes, movies offer a predetermined emotional experience, which enables us to shut down our brains. This is commonly referred to as experiential control and it makes our cognitive burden to be much less since we are aware of the ending. In the modern generation where stress is uncertain, the predictability of a favorite book is like an emotional life raft, which releases dopamine via anticipation instead of the effort of handling new information.

Finally, the interaction of images and nostalgia in cinema provides a sense of belonging, which is profound and communal as modern algorithms cannot possibly replicate.

Which kind of entertainment do you enjoy the most, films or series?the rationale behind your choice!.

As much as I enjoy films, I continue to find television series a much more gratifying experience in the modern environment. The major reasoning is in the character development and storytelling. A series, unlike a two-hour film, a rushed three-act structure, has a chance to develop characters, which grow realistically. We do not just follow their story; we co-exist with them throughout a number of seasons forming a special emotional connection. Moreover, the quality gap has been bridged by the modern age of the so-called prestige TV, providing unsurpassed visuals of a cinematic quality with an elaborate world-building typical of novels.

The episodic format offers a sense of ritual and community, which is more or less unchanging in a fast-paced world. It makes entertainment a process and not a one-time event, and the resolution of the ending can be all the more fulfilling.

Thanks for reading my post I'm inviting @josepha, @pea07 and @aviral123 to participate.
