We Do Not Inherit the Earth From Our Ancestors — We Borrow It From Our Children

Last weekend I went for a walk in a park near my home. The trees were full, the air felt clean, and for about 30 minutes I completely forgot about my phone, my to-do list, and every worry I had been carrying. Nature did that. No app, no subscription required.

But on my way back, I passed three overflowing trash bins, plastic bags caught in the bushes, and a dried-up pond that I remember being full of water just two years ago. And that quiet peace I had felt moments earlier — gone.

The small things add up — both ways

We often think that one person's actions do not matter much. One plastic bag. One extra hour of AC. One skipped recycling day. But here is the thing — eight billion people thinking the same way is exactly how we got here. And eight billion people making one small change is also how we get out.

Three things I started doing — that actually make a difference

I stopped buying single-use plastic water bottles and switched to a reusable one. I started composting kitchen waste instead of throwing it in the bin. And I make it a point to pick up at least one piece of litter whenever I go for a walk. Small? Yes. Pointless? Absolutely not.

You do not have to be an environmentalist to care about the earth. You just have to be someone who wants their kids to see a forest someday.

Nature gives us everything — clean air, clean water, food, peace of mind. The least we can do is stop taking it for granted.

What is one thing you do in your daily life to take care of the environment? I would genuinely love to know.
