Lizo Went To The Farm With Us

We were at the farm today and to our biggest surprise, Lizo a lovely dog in the compound decided to tag along. We didn't even notice until we left the house, we actually went with a car, the farm is just at the backside, not far from home, maybe it observed that we weren't going very far and then decided to tag along.

We were actually going to the farm to check on the pigs and to feed them their usual ration...As we drove, we noticed something running towards us from behind...this was when we discovered it was Lizo and her puppy. The only surviving puppy.

The story of how it lost three puppies still makes me feel bad, but then we had to let go. They were friendly and cool to be with but they began to die one by one. They might just have eaten poisonous substance outside the house.

They are not dogs that are being let out but they never cease to take advantage of any slight opportunity they get when the gate opens...they dash out immediately, looking for what is not lost, sometimes we even get to lock them outside not knowing they are out. This resulted in the death of 3 puppies.

Anyway that's by the way. We got to farm and I observed how the dogs reacted when they saw the pigs. The meeting of these animals was not the friendly type at all, the pigs were running away, scared of being attacked, the dogs were also doing the same. They just gave themselves reasonable distance to avoid a serious clash.

But from my careful observation, the dogs expressed more fear, you need to see how they were running around looking for a way of escape. The size of the pigs were obviously intimidating them. The puppy tried to withstand those pigs each time they come around but the bitch would not even bark to express her displeasure...lols.

After this short entertainment from these animals, I decided to focus on the pigs, because they are the reason why we came visiting, I was looking to see their weight and how well they have converted the food given to them. Of course I was impressed. The result is heart warming.

The system operated in this backside farm is a semi-intensive system where they are allowed to roam but not beyond their enclosure yet they seem to convert better when compared to the period when they were far away in the other farm where we operated an intensive system. This result gladdened my heart and of course I left satisfied knowing that they are doing real good...and that was it for the day.
