Hello friends, welcome to my blog! Today I would love to share my thoughts concerning the topic we have above. It's a very brilliant topic and should be approached sensibly.

How does one interpret the term "Criticism"? Please Explain!

In my own simple definition, I would consider criticism as the act of putting an idea or action under a test by analysing such and given an objective judgement about it. Some consider criticism as reviews which I agree with to an extent but I think it goes even deeper than most reviews.

However criticism is in two broad categories, we have the constructive criticism and destructive criticism. Both are criticism but what differentiate them is the intention of the person criticising an idea or action. One criticizes to point out loose ends for the purpose of making an idea or action better by profering solutions while the other criticizes to tear down and make something worthless. Hence the term constructive and destructive criticism.

Of course yes! People have the wrong mindset about criticism, they believe when someone criticizes, the intention is to tear down whatever it is they are criticizing but they are wrong. People would always help you get better by analysing what you do construtively so you can see the areas that are not perfect enough and then work on them.

The manner at which criticism is done is also very important, a constructive criticism is done out of love and not hatred or displeasure or even envy. Yeah! People can go to any length to discredit other because they do not like them. Sometimes, they go that far because they consider them as rivals.

So the only way to get ahead is to rubbish what they have done. This is desctructive and cannot in any ways help make things better. The only way this can bring about any result is if the person who is being criticized has enough thick skin to dust off the negativity in the comment of the destructive criticizers and focus on the message being passed to become better.

Please provide an overview of the advantages and disadvantages associated with criticism.

In this section we would be looking at the pros and cons of criticism. I will start by talking about the adavantages of criticism.

Advantages

• It allows for accountability: this point here cannot be overstated. Criticism is one of the tools to get people accountable for whatever they do. The masses usues criticism to call people in power to other.

• It gives room for improvement: Criticism, especially the constructive one gives room for improvement as it points out the area where there is need for it.

• It helps reduce mistakes: criticism has a way of making people avoid bigger mistakes because someone has just spotted it and analyzed it. Think about it, what if no one looked at what has been done critically, mistakes or potential mistakes wouldn't have been spotted.

Disadvantages

• It fuels people's bias : Many people do not criticize because they want to help the person who is being criticized, they only want to push their bias which is totally contrary to what criticism is all about.

• It could breed conflict : When it comes to criticism, mannerisms is very important because it is what distinguishes a constructive criticism from a destructive one. Many criticism developed into conflict because it was totally selfish and insensitive.

• It breaks confidence : criticism is capable of breaking people's confidence, especially the destructive ones that has no business introducing solution to make something better.
