The April contest #1 by sduttaskitchen|Acceptance Requires Courage!
A friend of mine lost her mum, and she has been in the throes of many emotions. Fear, sadness, disbelief, grief, and then acceptance
I see it in her eyes every time we talk that mentally she’s going through the motions, especially as the family have decided to bury her quickly. Sometimes she has this glazed look in her eyes that tell me she’s somewhere off relieving memories of their times together.
Life is very unpredictable, and comes with many curveballs that may not always be favourable. The ability to accept the unpredictables that life brings our way is a trait of the strong.
I believe this is so. It takes a heart full of courage to accept what comes with life. Courage is the ability to still forge ahead no matter what happens. Anyone who isn’t doesn’t have this trait won’t survive this life as there are days when people get beaten down, weary, frustrated, tired, and don’t seem to be making a headway. It takes courage to rise above all these obstacles and still push foward.
Personally, I ask myself “ what’s the worst that will happen” before I embark on any venture?
Once I’ve calculated, anticipated and accepted the worst case scenario, I go for it. This way I can handle any form of rejection and it won’t faze me. If it also turns out to be that I win, good and fine.
The reason a lot of people don’t handle rejection well is they put too much expectation in things and they don’t mentally sit through the pros and cons of a matter before partaking in it.
Another thing I do is that : I ask myself: why was I rejected?? What’s the lesson to be learnt here? What didn’t I do that I was supposed to have done?
Is there a way to be better next time??
I take rejection as an opportunity to learn and be better instead of as failure.- this is where most people flop. They see rejection as failure and get beaten down, i see it as fuel to push further and lessons to improve on myself.
Courage to me is the ability to try new and unpredictable things. It is also the drive needed to pick up yourself and keep moving despite life’s obstacles. It is the tenacity, the grit teeth needed to bring you out of that situation. A man without courage won’t achieve anything meaningful in life, why? Because life itself isnt designed to give you what you deserve, it only answers to the courageous.
Acceptance is the inate ability to accept the things life throws our way. Be it a failed business deal, a loss in whatever way.
It’s very important that we come to terms with life and accept reality instead of mentally zoning out. This grounds us and keeps us in tune with the everyday intricacies of life.
I invite @chidinmaozurumba @alexanderpeace @obikay to participate here.
