Incredible India Monthly Community Contest for January #1: Strength!
It is said that strength is seen in the physical more especially in women but I disagree today because I have gained more knowledge and experiences as well. When we talk of strength, it is far beyond the physical.
I leave you to judge me if I'm wrong!
What is your perspective on the concept of strength? Please describe.
To me, strength isn't only about physical power or enduring hardship quietly. True strength reveals itself in daily choices, especially when they are tough. A strong person can admit they are tired, seek help, or try again after failing. For instance, a parent who wakes up every day to support their family despite limited means shows quiet yet powerful strength. Similarly, a student who fails an exam but studies harder instead of giving up is showing resilience.
Strength is also emotional. It requires courage to forgive someone who has hurt you, to leave behind what no longer brings peace, or to tell the truth even when your voice trembles. I believe strength is found in being consistent, kind, and persevering. It isn't always loud or visible, but it builds character over time. Often, strength appears as patience, humility, and the choice to keep moving forward when quitting seems easier.
How can individuals leverage their strengths to foster personal development or contribute to societal improvement? Please elaborate on this concept.
Individuals can use their strengths by first identifying what they excel at and carefully applying those skills for personal growth and development. When people recognize their strengths, they build confidence and gain clarity on how to enhance themselves and assist others.
For instance, a person with excellent communication abilities can grow personally by learning public speaking or writing, while also making a difference by educating others, or mentoring younger individuals. Personal growth occurs when strengths are shown through practice and dedication. Someone who is inherently patient might evolve into an effective teacher, counselor, or leader by utilizing that patience to support others.
Similarly, a person with strong problem-solving skills can enhance their thinking by addressing difficult issues, potentially leading to innovations that benefit their workplace or community. Further more, strengths contribute to collective advancement. When individuals apply their talents responsibly, communities become more resilient.
For example, a person with organizational skills can volunteer to manage community initiatives, while someone with empathy can assist vulnerable populations through social work or outreach. By aligning personal strengths with significant objectives, individuals not only develop themselves but also contribute to creating a more supportive and productive society.
Do you believe that strength is inherently linked to the responsibility of upholding righteousness? Please justify your perspective.
Yes, because real strength has influence, and influence requires accountability. Strength; whether it is physical, emotional, intellectual, or social, gives someone the ability to influence others, especially when that power is not directed by righteousness, it can easily be harmful. For instance, a leader with power but no moral values might misuse their position to take advantage of others, while a just leader uses the same strength to protect, serve, and ensure fairness.
Maintaining righteousness often needs courage. It requires strength to stand up for what is right when it is difficult. A whistleblower who opens up corruption risks their comfort and safety, yet chooses truth over silence. Likewise, a strong person who defends someone facing injustice, even at a personal cost, shows that strength and righteousness go hand in hand.
However, strength without righteousness is incomplete. It may produce results, but those results obviously lack integrity and lasting significance. I believe true strength is demonstrated not by control, but by the capacity to choose what is right, prevent wrongdoing, and act with fairness and kindness. In this way, strength becomes a moral force that supports justice and positive change in society.
