The May contest #2 by sduttaskitchen: Society requires Security!
What is the definition of security according to your perspective?
According to my perspective, security is defined as the protection of lives, properties, rights, and peace of mind. It is the protection of what we value the most. Also, security means the condition where people in a country, society, community, or even village can live freely without fear of danger, violence theft, discrimination, or oppression.
Security doesn't only mean we should allow police, army, or security agencies to protect us, but it also involves individuals safeguarding themselves and their properties. A country or society that allows people to work, study, and grow peacefully is a secure society with strong security.
In addition to prioritising technical security measures, it is essential for us also to address the aspect of social security. I welcome your insights on this matter.
Social security is very important because a lot of crimes and conflicts are connected to unemployment, poverty, inequality, and lack of education. Even with strong technical security systems like alarms, CCTV cameras, or cyber protection, society can still be faced with insecurity if the people are suffering economically and socially.
The government can do something to improve social security which includes;
- Create job opportunities for the youths
- Improve access to quality education
- Promote peace, unity among people, and tolerance
- Support families and communities in raising responsible children
- Provide social welfare and healthcare
To establish a civilised society, what are the key principles that should be implemented?
The key principles that should be implemented in a civilised society are:
Justice and equality: This means that everyone should be treated equally regardless of religion, tribe, social class, or gender.
Respect of human rights: This means people should have the freedom to speak and feel safe.
Rule of law: This means the law must be applied equally to everyone.
Education: This means citizens should have access to quality education
Discipline and responsibility: This means people should obey laws, respect others, and contribute to society positively.
Peace and tolerance: This means different cultures and opinions should be allowed to coexist in our society.
