The December contest #2 by sduttaskitchen|Treasure!

When I hear the word treasure, it’s not only the chest filled with gold that’s buried on an island like in a Pirate! Experience is, in a way, what we treasure: something valuable that is sought after by great effort, and also something dear to the one who hold it.

Treasure is not always literally sparkling, but it can be found in the rhythms of life, in trials and tribulations. I take this word with a twofold view: what I protect, what I fight for, and what I can least lose — that is my treasure.

There are contents of human life, the finer parts of which can never be reckoned by figures. Good health is the best of all possessions and without it, everything else is useless. Time is a special treasure as well, for you can never buy back time once red of it.

Family and loved ones are our emotional treasures: they give us security, love, and a reason to live. Wisdom comes with knowledge and experience which help us to make better decisions. And in the end, integrity and faith (or values) are the moral jewels that anchor us during the temptations of this world.
A Letter To Myself,

This has been quite a journey, and all I can do is thank you for coming so far. You don’t know all the truth you used to have — they’ve been overturned, reinforced and replaced by new them in an incessant circle of evolution.

You know how to get up when you fall, say sorry when you’re wrong, and be thankful when you receive something. You have the courage to try, in spite of the fact that you're always doubting yourself. And that's — that's an accomplishment, in itself.

I'm proud that you are a curious person. You continue to evolve, expand your horizons, and grow more empathetic toward others. You have learned to regulate your moods, tend to your relationships — and love the ride. You may not be there yet, but you’re a long way from where you were.

I hope a part of you will still prioritize your physical and mental ins, and always did so, henceforth. I wish you can take better advantage of your time: more time working, less time living. Make work that’s meaningful, work that matters, work that’s aligned with your values. Dream big, but stay humble. With hope,
