When Strangers Became Friends - Steem Meetup in Jaipur, India

I finally had a very little glimpse of what Steemfest must feel like as I attended my first Steemit meetup yesterday, held in Jaipur, which is one of the metro cities in India.

The event was organized thanks to the initiative taken by @firepower and I finally knew what it meant to meet Steemians in person; people who were only usernames on a screen before. Suffice it to say, it was special!

I have always truly believed that the Steemit community is unlike any other community on the internet. In fact, this has been evident to me since the very first day I started blogging here and although there were bumps along the way, my faith in the community remains unshaken.

This faith only becomes stronger when we meet these fellow community members in person and are able to know them and their life stories better. It makes you realize that people from all walks of life are able to come together and form lasting bonds and grow together, all thanks to the blockchain we all know and love: the Steem blockchain.

I doubt there is any other blockchain out there that can boast of a community as engaged as Steem’s!

The meetup was held at a place called "Tapri - The Tea House".

Anyways, so, since this was my first Steemit meetup ever, I was very excited to meet all these people that I had been following here and was looking forward to know them better. There were some who had been longtime users, some who had been on the site for more than half a year, some who had just joined and some were looking forward to registering.

Being one of the older users, I was able to answer some of the queries that the newer users had and the desire to get better and grow was something that I noticed was common in all of them. That’s how you know that we have something special at our hands.

It was not all about Steemit though. As it was an informal type of an event, we got an insight what each person was like in real life and some stories about their lives and journey so far. All this was augmented, of course, by the stunning venue, awesome food and tea. We Indians sure love our tea!

@sauravrungta - That is so cool. I hope I am able to attend a meetup like this next time. How was this organized? Is there a discord group or steemit chat room that I need to join to get to know about meetups?

Yeah, it really was cool. It was organised by making an announcement post and then spreading the word through personal connections.

@sauravrugta - Cool. Perhaps the organizers can also think of discussing such meets on discord. More people can participate that way. I will keep my eyes and ears open for upcoming meets. Cheers.

That is great, I would like to meet more people that are on steem. Can't wait for next Steemfest.
