Travel journey #1: Leaving my cat

in #indonesia7 years ago

As I do love to travel, I would like to share my experiences.
While I got older my curiosity for the world growed as well. I was still in high school for 3 years but I already dreamed of traveling. Of course I would like to see the whole world and all her wonders, but I never doubted about the fact that Indonesia would be my worth my first visit. This is probably because my grandmother and a part of family is from Indonesia.

So after finishing High school I took a gap year. I started working from part-time to full-time saving all my money. I asked a lot of my friends if they were interested in traveling Asia with me, and one of my friends was. So we started planning the trip and after a month she said she couldn't go..
I never traveled alone before and I never went to asia before. But I decided to go alone. I saved the money and now I was in my gap year so there was time. 've quitted my job and booked my ticket to Jakarta. I just turned 19 so at my birthday I told my friends I was leaving in 10 days to South east Asia for 2,5 month.

Well, I'm a really chaotic person. Two days before I left I had the audition for the Art academy. And ofcourse I needed the vaccinations, which are scary. Even more scary, telling my mom that I'm leaving for 2,5 months on my own to Indonesia.

The day I left I started crying at home, at my boyfriend and brother, and I told them I would miss my cat so much :') Ofcourse they made fun of me. Reflecting on that moment now, I think I was really really scared. Leaving all the save people and places behind to go all alone to a different culture and unknown place.. At the airport my mom cried, and I said everyone goodbye.
Right now I'm thinking 'It was just two month Esmee..' But then I felt so different haha
With my heart bouncing so loud I almost ran to the gate for my 18 hours flight.

I woke up in the airplane with underneath me the blue ocean and small islands. The blue changed in dark gray. Thunder and rain were waiting for me in Jakarta.

This would be the time of your life. I'm so glad that a lot of people are doing this now as I did three years ago. That 7 months trip to South America has totally changed me and I've learned a lot from it like survival skill, languages, and communication (well, I'm an introvert).

What's your itinerary in South East Asia? I'm from here and based here, let me know if you need any help!

I already made this trip! But I like to share the adventures. I saw on your profile you're from KL, I also went there! it was nice. Would definitly come back there. I also went to Mallaka, Singapore and the islands Bali, Java and Sumatra in Indonesia.

That's really amazing that you've been to these places already, where about are you right now? How many days left for your awesome trip?
