Simple News Aggregation: Climate : Monday, February 18th, 2019: True Science never has to alter data to fit a desired conclusion...

in #informationwar6 years ago

There are a number of climate and climate change related articles out there as I am perusing the news. There are a significant amount of them. Here is a simplified aggregation of a lot of different articles on the topic. Socialism related news will also be mentioned in some cases since it is directly tied to the vast majority of proposed actions against Climate Change.

House Democrat counters Trump with resolution declaring climate change a national emergency

Democratic Rep. Earl Blumenauer of Oregon said Friday he intends to introduce a resolution declaring climate change a national emergency.

Blumenauer, who has endorsed the progressive Green New Deal resolution and is active on environmental and renewable energy issues, circulated a letter to colleagues Friday seeking support for a resolution that would declare the “sense of Congress” that climate change is a national emergency.

Delingpole: No, Climate Change Is Not Wiping Out the World’s Insects

If you believe the Guardian and the BBC, the world is on the brink of Insectapocalypse: A mass extinction of creepy crawlies that threatens the “collapse of nature.”

But if I were you, I’d take these claims with a big pinch of salt, especially if they include the words “climate change.” That is because the most dramatic, oft-quoted study that links insect loss with climate change turns out to be flawed to the point of uselessness. It is so bad that the Global Warming Policy Foundation has sent a formal complaint to its publishers calling for its withdrawal.

The study by Brad Lister and Andres Garcia was published last year by Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America (PNAS). Titled Climate-driven declines in arthropod abundance restructure a rainforest food web, it appeared to tell a very worrying story about a precipitous decline in the number of insects in Puerto Rico’s Luquillo rainforest.

NASA hides page saying the Sun was the primary climate driver, and clouds and particles are more important than greenhouse gases

The NASA site used to have a page titled “What are the primary forcings of the Earth system?“. In 2010 this page said that the Sun is the major driver of Earth’s climate, that it controls all the major aspects, and we may be on the cusp of an ice age. Furthermore NASA Science said things like clouds, albedo and aerosol behaviour can have more powerful cooling effects that outdo the warming effect of CO2.

Climate Change Religion And Related Cover-Ups: What The Hell Is NASA Hiding?

The shrill voices of climate change hucksters get louder every day. Supposedly the world will end in 12 years. It won't.

Someone asked me on Twitter today "who are you to debate climate scientists."

Well, who are priests and clergy to debate Darwinism? Should we prevent debate that does not suit us?

Here's a widely held view: Climate Change Denial Should Be a Crime

In 1663, leading scientists all thought the sun revolved around the earth. The Catholic Church Convicted Galileo of Heresy for disputing the claim.

Supposedly, we are brighter today.

But why do we have scientists faking data and suppressing data that does not meet the cause?

Cities And States Are Scaling Back Their ‘Green’ Ambitions As Costs Skyrocket, Opposition Grows

Democrats’ Green New Deal legislation envisions a United States that eliminates all greenhouse gas emissions through a massive expansion of government control, which includes a green grid, electrified mass transit and high-speed rail.

Cities and states actually trying to implement these policies, however, are often finding it difficult to overcome political and economic realities.

In the past year, for example, Washington state voters rejected — for a second time — a proposal to tax carbon dioxide emissions. Carbon tax opponents successfully framed the proposal as an energy tax that would raise prices and do nothing for future global warming. The tax was backed by Democrats like Gov. Jay Inslee, who is also mulling a 2020 presidential run.

Inslee, who styles himself as the Democratic “climate candidate,” has also failed to push major climate policies through the legislature and using his own executive authority.

“It shows you how ineffective he’s been even in a state like Washington,” Todd Myers, environmental policy director at the Washington Policy Center, told The Daily Caller News Foundation in a recent interview.

REPORT: Bill Gates Slams Unreliable Wind & Solar Energy – Gates: “The ‘climate is easy to solve’ group is our biggest problem”

When the world’s richest entrepreneur says wind and solar will never work, it’s probably time to listen.

Bill says it’s time to stop jerking around with wind & solar

Bill Gates made a fortune applying common sense to the untapped market of home computing. The meme has it that IBM’s CEO believed there was only a market for five computers in the entire world. Gates thought otherwise. Building a better system than any of his rivals and shrewdly working the marketplace, resulted in hundreds of millions hooked on PCs, Windows and Office. This is a man that knows a thing or two about systems and a lot about what it takes to satisfy the market.

For almost a century, electricity generation and distribution were treated as a tightly integrated system: it was designed and built as one, and is meant to operate as designed. However, the chaotic delivery of wind and solar have all but trashed the electricity generation and delivery system, as we know it.

Germany and South Australia are only the most obvious examples.

Liberal Columnist Blasts Green New Deal: Democrats To 'The Left Of Che Guevara'

Liberal New York Times columnist David Brooks slammed the Democratic Party during an interview on "PBS NewsHour" on Friday, saying that the party is to the left of Marxist Che Guevara.

AOC says America should lead the world

In committing national economic suicide and sending living standards back to 19th century

Paul Driessen

29-year old ex-bartender and freshman U.S. Representative (D-NY) Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez received thunderous environmentalist and media acclaim when she introduced her Green New Deal resolution in the House and Ed Markey (D-MA) submitted it in the Senate. It was quickly endorsed or cosponsored by scores of House and Senate Dems, including many who want to run against President Trump in 2020.

But within days the GND was subjected to rigorous analysis (and ridicule) by energy experts, President Trump, Republicans, conservative pundits and even some Democrats. Their disdain is well-founded.

Asserting yet again that “manmade climate change” poses an “existential threat” to people and planet – with only a dozen years before total disaster strikes – the Green New Deal demands that the United States convert to 100% “renewable” energy within ten years. It also proclaims an equally urgent need to abandon free enterprise capitalism in favor of 100% socialist economic and “social justice” policies.

Hurricanes & climate change: detection

From Dr. Judith Curry’s Climate Etc. Posted on February 17, 2019 by curryja |
by Judith Curry

I am preparing a new Special Report on Hurricanes and Climate Change

This Report is easier than my Special Report on Sea Level and Climate Change. Sea level and glaciers are very fast moving topics, whereas for hurricanes, the big picture conclusions haven’t really changed in a decade.

Weekly Climate and Energy News Roundup #348

A Note on Outgoing Longwave Radiation (Infrared Radiation): TWTW is trying to prepare a clear explanation of the effects of greenhouse gases and how the effects can be measured. They cannot be measured from the surface. The theory involves specialized fields such as theoretical molecular physics and mathematics such as integral equations. The physicists who review TWTW requested that TWTW explanations be reviewed by specialists to ensure there are no significant errors. This is being done, but the discussion of outgoing Infrared Radiation has been delayed.

The Green New Deal: There has been a great deal written about the Green New Deal over the past week. Many criticisms are linked below to include absurd claims by the promoters. Among the more outrageous claims of the proponents not discussed are analogies to the Marshall Plan and to the mobilization for World War II. It is apparent that proponents do not understand either.

The Marshall Plan, the European Recovery Program (ERP), was a great improvement in the attitudes of the victors following World War II, over the attitude of the victors following World War I, with the Treaty of Versailles. The Treaty of Versailles was designed to punish the vanquished and their citizens, the Marshall Plan set out to rebuild the economies of Europe providing prosperity for the citizens. President Truman was a Democrat and Congress was controlled by the Republicans. Much to the credit of the leaders of both groups, they set aside political differences to pass legislation benefiting European recovery from the devastating war.

However, scarcely discussed, the results were very uneven in Western Europe. (The Soviet Union came out with its own plan and implemented it in Eastern Europe.) A student familiar with economic statistics traveling in Western Europe in the early 1970s could note the difference in prosperity between West Germany and the UK. West Germany was thriving, the UK was stagnating, with its citizens facing increasing costs for necessary items. Yet, the UK received more funding from the Marshall Plan than West Germany.

One can attribute part of the difference in prosperity to the way in which the governments treated the funds from the Marshall Plan. The German government distributed the funds to local leaders, with proper accounting controls, as loans, to be repaid. The localities invested the funds accordingly. The UK government used the funds to strengthen control over private industries. It appears the Green New Deal is more along the lines of establishing greater federal control of private industries than promoting prosperity.

The second analogy of mobilizing for WWII is more disturbing.

...

If there is an analogy to war for the New Green Deal, it is in Vietnam – when the national leaders did not understand the enemy or how to confront the enemy.

How to feed the world by 2050? Recent breakthrough boosts plant growth by 40 percent

Carl R. Woese Institute for Genomic Biology, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign

One of the most significant challenges of the 21st Century is how to sustainably feed a growing and more affluent global population with less water and fertilizers on shrinking acreage, despite stagnating yields, threats of pests and disease, and a changing climate. Recent advances to address hunger through agricultural discovery will be highlighted at this year’s annual meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) at 8 a.m. Feb. 16, 2019, at the Marriott Wardman Park.

“The meeting this year is about ‘Science Transcending Boundaries’–the idea for the session is to highlight research that is transcending scientific and knowledge boundaries, with the ultimate goal to transcend geographic boundaries and reach smallholder farmers in Africa,” said Lisa Ainsworth, a scientist with the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Research Service (USDA-ARS) and an adjunct professor of plant biology at the University of Illinois. Recently, Ainsworth was awarded the 2019 National Academy of Sciences Prize in Food and Agriculture Sciences.

Stop Laughing: Yes, the Green New Deal Is Stupid and Evil, But It’s Coming

Democratic socialist wunderkind Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) has been receiving torrents of ridicule for the “Green New Deal” program she unveiled with great fanfare and media adulation on Thursday, and it’s well deserved. But conservatives may come to find that laughter catching in their throats: as stupid as it is, and as disastrous as it would obviously be if it were implemented, many powerful figures on the Left aren’t laughing. And it’s not in the least impossible that they'll bring that disaster upon the nation by trying to implement it.

The popularity of Ocasio-Cortez herself is a case in point. She is attractive, passionate, and untroubled by the miseries of possessing an intellect. She was already famous before the Green New Deal rollout for demonstrating a sub-middle school understanding of the branches (which she calls “chambers”) of government, exhorting Democrats to work hard to “take back all three chambers of Congress, uh, rather, all three chambers of government, the presidency, the Senate, and the House in 2020.” She spoke before taking office about being “inaugurated” and, as a member of the House of Representatives, signing legislation. She is a vociferous foe of Israel and denounces the “occupation of Palestine,” but can’t explain why.

Trump: America Will Never Be a Socialist Country…But Is It?

Among his ardent supporters, President Donald Trump’s recent State of the Union speech has been hailed as a masterpiece. Particularly praised by pundits is his dramatic declaration that the United States will never be a socialist country.

...

Some are suggesting that this sound byte might be remembered historically.

I can’t predict if this quote will become a piece of history, but I can assure you this statement is not true, although I wish it were.

I say this because America is already a socialist country.

It didn’t start out that way. As the President noted, “We were born free…” but disturbingly, the America of today is thoroughly saturated in socialism.

California Nightmare: Over Half The State Wishes They Could Leave

This just shows what can happen when you let crazy people run a state for several decades. In the 1960s and 1970s, the possibility of moving to the west coast was “the California dream” for millions of young Americans, but now “the California dream” has turned into “the California nightmare”. According to a brand new survey, 53 percent of those living in California are considering leaving the state, and there are certainly lots of reasons to hit the road and never look back. The cities are massively overcrowded, California has the worst traffic in the western world, drug use and illegal immigration both fuel an astounding amount of crime, tax rates are horrendous and many of the state politicians appear to literally be insane. And on top of all that, let us not forget the earthquakes, wildfires and landslides that are constantly making headlines all over the world. Last year was the worst year for wildfires in California history, and these days it seems like the state is hit by some new crisis every few weeks.

But none of those factors are the primary reason why so many people are eager to leave.

According to a brand new survey by Edelman Intelligence, the main reason why so many are considering leaving the state is the high cost of living…

Sea level data ALTERED by scientists to create false impression of rising oceans

(Natural News) A scientific paper published by a team of Australian researchers has revealed a startling find: Scientists at the Permanent Service for Mean Sea Level (PSMSL) have been “adjusting” historical data regarding tide levels in the Indian Ocean. Their “highly questionable” activities have depicted rapidly rising seas — but the truth is that there is no reason to be alarmed at all. Scientists have found that sea levels are stable — and have been for the entirety of the 20th century.

To put it simply, these PSMSL “scientists” have been arbitrarily changing their data in order to create the illusion of a problem that doesn’t actually exist.

Extreme weather is often caused by gravity waves rather than climate change, research shows

(Natural News) The world seems to be experiencing an increasing number of droughts, floods, hurricanes, and other extreme weather events that many people are blaming on “climate change.” But a new study out of Germany challenges this common assumption, offering convincing evidence to suggest that so-called “gravity waves” may, in fact, be a more probable explanation for these weather phenomena

Though “invisible” on standard radar and forecast equipment due to their unusually short wavelengths, gravity waves are, in many cases, the main destabilizing factor behind many a seemingly inexplicable weather event. They often form around weather fronts and during major storms, for instance, appearing in the sky to the naked eye as normal bands of clouds. But they only show up in the official weather models if special component modules are used that have the capacity to detect them.

WAYNE ALLYN ROOT: Democrats Can’t Hide Crazy!

Back in November I predicted all of this. I wrote my most controversial column ever. After the GOP had lost the House, I predicted the big winner of the November midterms was…

President Trump.

I’m sure many of my readers thought I was stark raving mad. But my November prediction has proven 100% correct. Back then, I predicted putting Democrats in charge would embarrass them, expose them, destroy them. Suddenly the craziest and most radical Democrats could no longer be hidden. I believed Democrats winning the House was the best thing that ever happened to Trump. I was “on the money.”

Have you seen the latest polls? President Trump is at 52% approval at always accurate Rasmussen. FIFTY TWO PERCENT. The highest since his inauguration week. Yes, Trump is the most popular he’s ever been, after the longest government shutdown in America’s history.

It all happening exactly as I predicted. The more Democrats appear in the media, the more popular Trump becomes. Democrats are in charge- they can’t hide their crazy. It’s all out in the open for everyone to see. The Democrat Party is dangerous, extreme, reckless, radical and really, really crazy.
