A festival without electricity and internet.

It has been raining since few days. The whole festival mood was little spoiled due to the rain. People travelled back from from other states unable to go out to enjoy the annual local festival fair as well as to see the different pandals that comes up at different location. The rain has created havoc, as it has been raining continously, making people to stay indoors. But the situation at home is more pity, as people were having a lot problems with the power supply as well as the internet disruption. Being a remote location, the area always face power outage but this time, the power cut adding more woes to the problem, as the internet also gets down. The situation reminded me of the typical village of earlier times when there was no power and no internet still people used to enjoy their life and occasion.

My village used to be a backward region situated in midst of a dense jungle. In my childhood days, my village had no electricity. People were mostly dependent on oil lamps or lantern. By 6 in evening ,everyone gets inside their home and the entire village becomes a desserted place. Looking back I must say, those were the golden era, when people used to enjoy their life to the fullest. We easily used to count the numerous stars in the sky and likewise enjoy every festival. I have many fond memories of the childhood days, when we use to carry torches to visit each other home and eat some local cuisine during the festival time. Those were quite memorable days as we human were more social than today. No electricity, means no television and in those days, people were not relying on internet too. Those were the era which never going to come back. The more we are getting advanced the more we were leaving the Golden times behind. I doubt any of the new "GenZ" kids ever seen a oil lamps. If I ask them to study under the dim yellow light of a oil lamp, noone would able to even sit for few min. But in those people use to study under those lights and they succeed in different fields. Those were the tough days that allows people to bear the burnt of hardship and achieve success in their life.

In the last few days, the situation does push me back to those era. Although now people have their battery powered invertor and rooftop solar plates. But the heavy clouds and long power cuts does not allow them to charge much. Making households to rely on candle and emergency lights. People were more quite now due to absence mobile network. They were more social, and interact with each. First time in so many years, i have seen, people walking on the streets late evening, visiting each other home to wish and enjoy the cuisines. GenZ were more active of them, as they got an oppurtunity to see the world with a new dimension. The power cuts and internet services were down, so they were more social. Even I met I few of them, who I never knew before. Although they were from my own community. But the busy life and active digital age never allow them to come out meet other member of the village.

What I like most, is to see the new generation kids enjoying rather than cursing the situation. Somewhere I feel thankful to the situation, which let me to relive those olden days. And seeing people more social than before. People were busy with each other rather than on mobile. They were laughing, smiling and enjoying the company of each other. The elders were quite happy to meet the new youngsters who live outside for their study or jobs. While the young ones were trying to figure out the relation they have with the elders. It was a great game of knowing each other and figuring out the existence of everyone. This makes the situation pretty interesting in middle of power supply and internet. Life still exists and it is very fulfilled if we get social
