I am looking forward to your entries!

Here are my photos for this week.

Look at this amazing Pandorus Sphinx Moth (Eumorpha pandorus) that was found on a car in a parking lot. It is a large moth with a wing span of 3 1/4 - 4 1/2 inches. The colors of light brown and olive green, along with this interesting pattern is a perfect camouflage for hiding in the foliage. This sphinx moth is nocturnal and is best seen during its active times which are dawn and dusk. These fast fliers can be found sipping nectar from milkweed plants, petunias, bouncing bet, and white champion. Their host plants are in the grape family such as Virginia Creeper and Peppervine. According to butterflyandmoths.org, Pandorus Sphinx moths can be found in "Nova Scotia and Maine, west through southern Wisconsin to central Kansas, south to south Florida and south Texas." I found this one in northeastern USA.

Here is another large moth that was found in the same location and I was not able to identify it.

Thanks for stopping by!

All photos are my own.

Nice moth @whatisnew !! It's a big one too O.o
Also If everyone posts from the Insect pub page they will post to the community feed to send it out to your followers you have to go to posts and ReSteem the post to put it on your blog page and send it out to all your followers. If you don't post on the community page it will not post into the community feed unless you cross post it to that community. Anyone confused yet lol
Also my entry for this week =)

Finally got that Bee ;) Good luck everyone !

My brain is fried but I will check into all of your info after I eat dinner. Thanks again for your help Bud! And thanks for your entry. : )

Yes, I'm super confused because two posts appear and I don't know which one to upvote, or if it matters? How are we supposed to memorize the names/numbers of all the various hives for the communities? Ugh!

I totally dig your honeybee photo! @chromiumone

Normally you would see only one post, just trying to figure out how to posy into the hive feeds.
So I figured out that you need to post from the hive/ community page
lets take insectpub as an example.
To post into this hive I go to the hive page and click on the Blue button that says New Post.

2020-02-20 16_01_52-Insect Pub _ trending — Steemit.png

Now set up a post as normal and tag it like always except do not use the hive- tag your already posting into the hives home page and it will post there by default.
Now your post will be in the insectpub feed(only). now after that go to to your profile page click the post section select the post you just made and ReSteem it. This will put it on your Blog page and it will go out to your followers,
If you don;t post from the hive homepage it will not show up in the hive feed unless you cross post it into the hive. You are seeing two posts because I was testing and did a regular post, and cross post, a hive post ect.

Thanks for the awesome writeup!😀
What are you accessing Steemit from? @chromiumone

Unfortuntately, I am stuck at step [minus] one "go to the hive page..."

I spent a couple minutes searching for anything 🔎"hive"🔍 using the esteem app search which resulted in nothing turning up. It's okay though. I know who the people are who regularly post to the hive community and can find the info I need there but "GenPop" does not. We will get there eventually!💫

I use the Regular old Steemit a lot. Sometimes I use SteemPeak.
To check out the "hive" communities I go to my Steemit feed page and to the left is this box

Hit explore communities and subscribe to the ones you want. the one you sub to show up as you see on mine to go to that community just click on it.

I only use the Esteem app from my android smartphone where this functionality is not yet in place

Thank you for all of your help! Making progress with the changes each day @chromiumone🙌

(Unfortunately hyperlinks quit working properly after the last @esteemapp android software update)

Hi @olivia08! Thanks for your entry. Week 48 is closed so please put the link to your entry here for Week 49. Thanks! : )

That sphinx moth reminds me of a military plane of some kind. I wonder what sort of payload it has. I have idea what the second brown one is. Maybe there is a spark of color under the wings. Here's a yellow theme for this week https://esteem.app/hive-100514/@sketch.and.jam/butterfly-day-yellow-theme

As @hangin would say, it is a B52. LOL! So what is your idea on what the other moth is? Thanks for your entry. : )

Haha...That is the Russian B52 extra large new version 😄

The second moth shape reminds me of a noctua pronuba but the patters are different. Who know maybe its a rare type of sphynx.

Who knows is right. Nothing matched the pattern or the black legs.

Your butterfly is beautiful. I have a Argent argiope, I didn't know they are blind. I love monarch caterpillars. Greetings.

Thanks, the argiopes only have enough eyesight to detect if it is day or night out. Most of their senses are from their web. They can sense small vibrations from wind or insects hitting their web.

Vaya!! es emocionante la información. No le leí en ninguna parte. Gracias por compartir sus conocimientos.

Wow! The information is exciting. I did not read anywhere. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.

Thank you @whatisnew for selecting my post as a win and congrats to all the other winners that is a awesome Sphinx Moth i remember one of them landing in my resort room while i was staying on a island in Thailand i had to build a extra long runway for it to take off out of my room the next day after spending the night hanging on a netted curtain in the room 😅

Actually here is a photo of it hanging around on the netted curtain.

Beautyful!

Thank you @mllg 😊

Wow!!! sharp colors, beautiful!

My pleasure @hangin! The colors on yours is much bolder, showing its strength. It needed to rest in the hanger for its mighty take off from your runway. LOL!

Thanks @whatisnew it was quite a sight to see him warm up for his take off...hehe 🦋

Congratulations @hangin for being a winner.!!
I like your sphinx, I think I saw it in a publication of his.
Greetings.

Thank you @gertu it is a beautiful butterfly park where you can see many species of butterflies 🦋

UPDATE! Hi everyone! This is what @chromiumone and I figured out on how to post your insects.

1-Click on this link: https://beta.steemit.com/trending/hive-100514
2-Post like you always do on that community page.
3-TAGS: Do NOT use #hive-100514 tag. USE #insectpub as your first tag.
I HOPE THIS HELPS.

Hi @whatisnew I was surprised not to see the contest early. Good to see you back. Great butterfly and also the moth. Both super strange, each time new species are appearing. Congratulations for being attentive to them and sharing with everyone around here.

Thanks @belkisa758! It is so exciting for me when I see something new.
I had many problems with posting

😍🤗
@whatisnew
The Pandorus Sphinx Moth are most amazing....!!!
Thank You and congratulations to all the other winners..💕🦋🐝.
I'm trying to learn how to navigate around myself with the changes..😃🤗😊.

My pleasure Anne! I do love these moths and was happy to finally see one in person. It flew away real fast so I only got one photo.
I wish there were written instructions on "how to" when they make changes here. It would be so much easier for everyone.

🦋🤗
I haven't seen one in a long time.
The "how to" would be great 😊...!!
I'm thinking by the time if and when I get it figured out ... it will be time for another change 😁😅🤷‍♀️😊🤗.

HaHa! You sound just like me. : )

😊🤷‍♀️😁

Holy cow Butterfly! The markings on that moth are incredible, I didn't know God made them that way. That's so nice I probably wouldn't even kill it.

Isn't that moth amazing?!?! I know you are probably tired of hearing me say this but...nature never ceases to amaze me!

No I agree. If it didn't amaze you there would be something wrong with you and we all know there's nothing wrong with Butterfly! lol.
