My AtoZ inspirations: Jessica Cox, the woman with no arms that grew her wings

JESSICA COX

"I was born without arms. And with all that I have been able to do without them, I can honestly say that today, if given the choice, I would not want the arms."

There are very few people in this world who are inherently motivated to overcome struggles and focus on what they have rather than focus on what they don't have. In 2008, after 3 years of training, she learned how to fly an unmodified airplane with her feet and thus became the world’s first ever armless pilot. She says flying gave her all the independence and freedom but more than that it enabled her to advocate for global disability rights.

I've always believed in the power of an inclusive society where nobody is discriminated because of race, gender, disability or background but rather given an equal opportunity to pursue what they believe in. Jessica Cox is one such individual who makes believe in our ability as human species who can collectively build a world where nobody is left behind.
