Study Reveals The Largest Market of Internet Users

Teens comprise a bigger portion of internet users.

When it comes to internet usage, almost 45% of the US teen population are continuously engaged in online while 95% have access to their mobile devices according to the Pew Research Center. Among the online platforms, Instagram, Snapchat, and Youtube are the most visited sites.

Based on the survey, Facebook is no longer the dominant social media platform. Approximately half of the US teen society ranging from 13 to 17 years old declare that they use Facebook particularly lower than the shares who utilize YouTube, Instagram, or Snapchat.

Given the statistics, with the current issues of net neutrality, how will these teens take advantage of the internet? Mind you, they are not the only ones using the internet, right? If the repeal of net neutrality will take effect on June 11, what will happen to these teens and all internet users?

The internet has been a huge tool for big and small industries. It has been and will always be the medium for searching and reaching contents and services. People need a free and open internet where they can freely communicate online. This is the main reason why more than half of the US population are fighting to restore net neutrality regulations of 2015.

Once the FCC’s repeal prevails, internet service providers will have the authorization to block, throttle, and even engage in paid prioritization. Consumers will have no choice but to pay extra money faster access or have a slower connection aside from blocked contents.

The study surveyed both teens and their parents regarding their internet and social media usage. The article was titled, “Teens, Social Media & Technology 2018.”
