Hi Steemit! I'm a month late, but here is my introduceyourself post!
Hey there, I'm @ajaxalot!
Pictured is myself and my three dogs. Behind the camera and a little bit of a finger in front of the camera is my beautiful wife.
I joined up one month ago and was a little nervous about making this post before getting to know the platform and interacting with the community. In that month I've made roughly 85 posts, 265 comments, and gained 189 followers. Now that I've gotten to know the community better I'm excited to introduce myself to those I haven't interacted with and share a bit about me.
Before we get further I should tell you how I came up with my name. Years ago, I decided to try and come up with a unique username so that I would never run into the issue of having my name taken. As a gamer I wanted a name with a strong history so I joined to name's together.
The first part of the name comes from Ajax.

Ajax was a mythological greek hero in the Illiad who fought in the battle of Troy. If you would like to know more you can check out this Wikipedia page. The short version is that he was an extremely strong and talented warrior who stood his own in battle without the help or aid of any of the gods aid.
The second half of the name comes from Lancelot.

Most people will be familiar with this name, but if you aren't he was one of King Arthur's knights of the round table. You can read more on this Wikipedia page The short version is he was one of the greatest swordsman and jousters of all the knights. He later did some not so great things that caused a lot of problems, but we won't get into that here.
Alright, that's enough history for now. Let's talk about me. I'm 30 years old and work in the IT industry. I've always been an avid computer and technology fan and an even more avid gamer. I cut my teeth on the original Nintendo and haven't stopped gaming since. I was fortunate to have my own computer for most of my life so I have been a member of the internet community for a long time. Although, Steemit is actually the first time I've really put myself out there when it comes to social media. For example, my Reddit account is 8 years old and I barely have any comments or posts. Creating content on Steemit has dusted off a creative side of me that has long been neglected.
If you check out my post history you'll see I have bounced around to different topics and different platforms, but I'm starting to settle down now and find my niche.
My main interests hobby is playing games and streaming them on #dlive I play a variety of games so if you want to check them out make sure to follow me.
Here's the battlestation / streaming "booth"
The microphone and camera are recent purchases to help improve the quality of the stream. The new video card should be coming in shortly as well!
I also enjoy reading and posting about Cryptocurrency especially one's I'm invested in like #smartcash
Fun fact. Reading posts about SmartCash on Steemit is how I found out about it in the first place!
I have made a few posts about cooking #bbq and look forward to sharing more as the temperature starts to warm up.
I also enjoy sharing some photos and video's of my dogs who you saw in my picture up top, but I'm sure you wouldn't mind another couple photos of them.
I have joined quite a few Discords since coming to the platform and would like to give some mentions here. Click the name for an invite to the Discord.
- Steamspeak: This channel was created by @fyrstikken and was an amazing way to get to know some members of the community. I would also like to thank @seablue and @instructor2121 from there for helping welcome me into the community. @ackza was also very encouraging when it came to making some of my first posts here! If you're looking for people to discuss cryptocurrency and other hot topics with. This is the place to be. It's always busy with people from around the world.
- DLive: This is where I am currently spending most of my team while streaming. The gaming text chat is always active with people looking to group up to play and stream together. Everyone is extremely friendly here. On the general chat you can get help with your streaming and DLive issues by wonderful DLive staff like @kassixo
- The Steem Experience: This is another great place to hang out and chat with other steem users. It was created by @richardcrill to be a "decentralized discord server" meaning it's more community run and operated. I want to give a shout out to @richardcrill and thank him for meeting up with me IRL to chat about steemit and other cryptocurrencies. He is very cool and very positive dude.
I would like to give a big thank you to everyone I haven't mentioned directly but has helped me join in to this amazing community. I'm looking forward to spending my free time here in the time to come.
Since joining I have been a Steemit advocate to friends and family members. I've recruited at least 8 people to create accounts and start posting. I don't feel comfortable sharing there names on here until they get used to the platform, but if you're following me you'll see me re-steeming there posts as they join.
Well, that's all I can think of for now. But if you have any questions feel free to leave a comment and I'll respond ASAP!
Welcome to steemit, ajaxalot!
Welcome to the platform! So much better than just wasting time on other social media sites! Look forward to seeing your posts in the future!
Hey @ajaxalot, how's your SMART investment? Welcome to the club brother.
I've have 3 payouts on the node I'm the sole owner of and 2 payouts on the node I'm 50/50 on. The coin held it's value well during the dip and I see a bright future for it. Hoping we can get back to $1 soon!
Nice read man!! I have been reading your smartcash posts too and your articles were an excellent addition to the team!! It was great knowing you a bit more too!!
Welcome bro!
Welcome to the platform buddy. Officially. You will have a great time and grow here. Also there is a wealth of information on pretty much any topic you can imagine. Food and cryptos!
Thanks for sharing. Seems like you are really figuring out Steemit. That is awesome!
Yep It's crazy how deep the rabbit hole can go when learning about all the different things you can find and do on here.
<3
Much <3 for the DLive family!
Hey @ajaxalot - great post and I love your dogs!
I'm curious - why did you choose to be so active before writing your #introduceyourself post?
I've been lurking here since December and done nothing, and now can't work out if I should do my intro post first, or write a post first or start commenting first!
If you lost your account today and had to rejoin tomorrow, what would you do? Anything different?
I would say the biggest reason I held off from creating the #introduceyourself post first is I didn't know what I was going to end up writing about on here. I've dabbled in blogging and streaming but haven't fully committed to it until now. Since I've found my voice it would be easy to start fresh and jump right if I were forced to start over.
My advice would be to just start making posts about anything that comes to mind. As you do so you'll find what you enjoy writing about versus what feels like a job or chore to write about. The more passionate you are about the topic the easier it is to write.
Haha funny thing when reading about your name @ajaxalot being part Ajax ... and the other was below the fold, ... and me thinking "the second part from Lancelot?" and shure it is Lancelot, haha! I am not into gaming at all, nevertheless like your writing style a lot, not to say alot :)
Wow, you're probably the first person to pick that up intuitively! I'm glad you enjoy the name and the writing. I'm still working on improving my creative writing skills as the majority of my time is spent in technical writing.
Welcome to steemit! This is a wonderul platform with great people and communities! I followed you and look forward to your posts! Be sure to check the other aspects of the steem blockchain as well; Steepshot, DTube, DLive, Zappl and DMania. Be active and have fun! Cheers @stwbll
I've touched all of them so far. Now it's just a matter of figuring out the things that I like to do and people like to see to keep me motivated to keep posting on those platforms.
There are definitely plenty of options! Post what you’re passionate about and you’ll gain a following! I know you at least one follower in me!
