Introduction to SteemIt and the start of the global revolution

Hello SteemIt community! I am Atlas and this is my leap into your world. I'm excited to be here and explore this amazing new social media platform. From what I've seen so far, this community is fantastic and I wish I had heard of this before today. So in customary fashion, here is a little about me.

In an effort to avoid reading too much like a Tinder bio I'm going to skip the part where I tell you how much I love working out, traveling, hiking, animals, and that I'm 6' tall when I'm in fact 5' 11" in real life 😜 😂

What I will say is that I've never written a blog before but I feel like this is a great time to start. At 29 years young, I'm back in school and finally free to explore and participate in things that I could only observe for quite some time. I'm eager to meet new people and try new things. I have an intense thirst for knowledge and an adventurous (occasionally reckless) spirit to take me down whatever rabbit hole seems interesting. I spent 7 years in the military.

In that time I saw a lot of the world and it changed my narrow scope of it. The most important thing I took from my time in the service was the belief that everyone deserves freedom, regardless of race, religion, or gender. The world I fought for and dream of is one of opportunity, the quality of which is not simply based on where you were lucky enough to be born. That is the only politics and the only future I care about. Everyone deserves happiness. No one has the right to oppress others and take advantage of them, by force or any other means. The reason I bring this up in my introductory post is that I feel technology, the community behind it, and the opportunities that it presents are one of the most significant and powerful tools we have to make that future a reality. We have the power to communicate and educate anyone, anywhere. We're not just posting funny cat memes and talking about the latest celebrity gossip... we're getting to know each other. We're bridging cultural gaps and creating a global community rather than a localized one. I'm excited to be a part of all this and most importantly I'm excited to get to know all of you.

I won't always be this serious. In fact, I'm usually borderline ridiculous. My posts will likely be an odd mix of opinions, attempts at amateur photography, game related ramblings, and my insane attempts to change the world via SteemIt Blog revolution 😋 so if any of that interests you upvote, follow, and let's get weird.
