2018 for dummies, how to survive the crypto year

This is it people, here we are the year that everyone is waiting for. 2018 has started and you wondering what's gonna happen in the crypto world. Well, I'd like to give you my different opinions based on my mistakes and readings on how to take 2018 and not getting your sheep wool sheared too quickly and painfully so bear with me here we go

1 The market will make a fool out of you.

You know that right ? when you buy it's going down when you sell it's going up it's like someone is on the other side of the screen playing with your FOMO. Well it's not. It's because the lack of experience. for long term hodl it doesn't matter is you buy and suddenly it goes down. coins are subject to corrections it's healthy and normal don't let the correction fools you.

2 When you buy/sell steem and SBD use exchange websites

like bittrex or binance. That way you help the price going up don't use the internal tool it doesn't help in the long term, we want to see volumes going on exchanges.

3 Don't jump on ICO to quicly.

most of them don't make it and it's not because a few peeps on steemit or other social media are telling you it's a bomb or it's such a great idea that you should get all exited. There is plenty of opportunities out there with the coins already in place for you to make profit, leave the ICO when you'll have more experience.

4 If you see that bitcoin is rising don't be shy

sell a bit of your altcoins (30%) to BTC to enjoy the ride, once BTC calms down reinvest in altcoins we see very often altcoin going down when BTC gets bullish.

5 Use coins that are super cheap in tx fees

to move from exchange places. I mean instead of moving btc or monero from bittrex to binance use verge or raiblocks or other altcoins with almost no fees to do it. Then change back your alt coin to BTC or whatever altcoins you want on the other exchange site.

6 To temper a bit the FOMO

learn a bit of TA. Elliott Waves / cup and handle, flags are quite good to begin with. When you are looking on your coin chart add the moving average and RSI to help you know where the coin is going. very often you buy in a oversold situation and then you regret it. Also zoom out on your charts get the big picture!

7 Dont buy ripple

, what ever peeps are saying stay away from it. It's the opposite of crypto currency and blockchain. More company are trying to fool people you have to be careful, this world is full of sharks they use the right words to make you believe this is the perfect opportunity for you however the opportunity is for them not you. like everything to do with money do some research first.

8 biased point of view about coins are every where

Spend time searching for people criticizing the coins you are looking for. It's always good to have opposite opinions to make an informed decision before spending money. assess the arguments and don't jump because you see a fancy website with nice words and some dude told you to.

9 Use steemit

Comment and be active nothing is gonna come your way by just reading. get in there get your hands dirty show people your point of view and if you feel that you don't know enough about something, ask questions, use the search, there is actually a huge amount of posts that can help you but you have to go and find them steemit is not design to bring you everything on a plate this is not amazon.

10 The more you get into crypto

the less you should compare the value with USD prices. Why ? because playing with altcoins you are buying in satoshi not US dollars. learn to look at the BTC price before the USD/EUR price, what's relevant is how much satoshis you are selling/buying the coin with. The FIAT value is only relevant for BTC. On coinmarketcap the orange line is what you want to look for.

11 Encrypt your text files

where you store your private keys. Don't leave a text file unencrypted on your computer.
use GPG mailvlope whatever ask me if you want but don't leave your keys exposed.

12 Take time to sleep and eat

and not talking about crypto every noun again it's good for you. Yes, crypto world is taking everyones attention and crypto is in every mouth now. Take the time to go for a walk in nature, appreciate a peace full day without getting crazy on what's going on. the market was there before you and it will still be there after you. Money is important but other things too, stay healthy, if you really that paranoid put limit sell on your altcoins and chillax ok.

13 Scams & spams are getting popular

Steemit has received a lot more attention the last 6 months, some accounts are there to waste your time, don't fall for schemes that promise you upvotings and easy money. steemit is not easy for everyone make sure to read the comments left in the posts to get a truer picture.

14 Make sure to keep going back to #introduceyourself

and welcome new members, we all in this together lets help one another out.

that's it for now guys, if you follow this advice you might survive 2018, it's gonna take off so fasten your seat belt, noobs, dummies and other fresh blood stay safe out there, if you have other recommendations for us all about 2018 please leave a message below and a resteem would be very appreciated cheers bhaa bhaa

Hello Shaun!

Truly wonderful little guide. The ICOs part is bullseye... and I felt tempted to invest in a few by now, but I know I am not the best to gauge the project's future so I stick out of it.
Cheers

hey max, yes well done it's better to walk away for sure, there are still in the top 100 crypto lots of interesting investment to do, I've never fell for one but joining their mailing lists showed me how much a lot of them play the "last opportunity bonus 30% blablabla" card. I'm glad it helped you, cheers ;-)

I should have just mortgage my house and get Steem 2 weeks ago :P

Great tips @blacksheepblog!

Especially the one about Ripple, I am selling the little Ripple I have left because It feels wrong even tho I'm profiting from it.

Ripple = Dirty Money!

thx mark yes It's the best thing to do well done!

well said. likewise taking the chinblow on this - was discussing with a friend last night and as he put it, you back what you believe in. If you believe in it, back it. If Ripple is the banks... I don't want to back it.
