my introduceyourself post - Conrad Shaw - filmmaker, writer, actor, UBI advocate
Hi folks.
My name's Conrad Shaw, and I'm new to Steemit. I've been a blogger and independent journalism appreciater on Medium before now, and excited to see how this all works here on this crazy, techy, cryptic platform.
As my main occupation, I'm a filmmaker. I'm also a writer, actor, and former mechanical engineer. Currently, I'm producing a documentary film series on universal basic income (UBI) called Bootstraps (www.bootstrapsfilm.com), due to release in early 2020. The past 14 months of research in this subject has led me to be a fairly outspoken advocate for UBI as a potential policy in America, and most of my writing focuses on that.
I love a good conversation or debate, and welcome comments and feedback on my work, and I look forward to reading the work of all you nice Steemizens as well.

Thanks! I haven't quite figured out what my approach will be on here. It's still very new to me, and the crypto concept is like a Rubik's cube. For starters, I think I'll try uploading a few other recent articles I'm proud of on here that I've done and try to learn how the platform works and build up a little audience if possible before considering an exclusive one. The new crowd here will be nice to begin interacting with. You gang seem quite friendly.
The Rubik's analogy is an accurate one.

Welcome to the party, Conrad. I'm days' old myself here. UBI is a topic that I've recently been introduced too as well. I have to say, a couple years ago, I would have been against the idea. Now I'm not so sure. Along with lots of interesting ideas, I've heard discussed a lot on Sam Harris' podcast.
Looking forward to interesting discussions.
I suspect the idea will grow on you, too. It feels radical at first, because it's so different than what we've grown up in. Gradually, it becomes one of the only paths that makes sense, and the way we do things now seems more and more bizarre.
