My Journey as a Social Media Manager

Hello Steemers!

I got the chance to work as a Social Media Marketing Manager for a company in Digital Content Alliance (Malaysia). My tasks included creating and uploading content, implement effective digital marketing strategies and run low budget campaigns through Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. I enjoyed my time at DCA as it helped me develop my skills and put them into practice.

Community Management

Social media isn’t just about putting up a post and then only logging in when you need to do it again. Communication is essential for anyone who manages social media accounts, especially if they want to give the company an image that shows they’re willing to reach out and talk to their audience base. No one says you have to respond to every comment, but questions and the occasional praise tweet getting a like or response makes an audience more willing to interact with a business’ social media content.

Copywriting skills

Every writing style should differ depending on the social network. For example, Twitter needs a fun and entertaining tone, whereas LinkedIn is more professional. SEO can help too. Your posts should be acceptable to the audience of your brand and create a good attitude for it

Analytical Skills

Analytics to monitor and report on a variety of global social media campaigns, analyzing and synthesizing data to provide actionable insights and tactical recommendations for our client. Social Media Managers are constantly being asked to prove and double down on what works. In order to gut-check their intuition and sell it to the rest of their company, social media managers should be well versed on marketing analytics. Simply Measured and Google Analytics are great places to start!

Planning

There is A LOT that goes into launching a social media campaign. Social media managers may even be running two or three campaigns at once!
Extensive planning is crucial to making sure your campaigns run smoothly and are successful. Being able to define a campaign’s objectives, creative, messaging, timeline, etc. will only elevate your social media game.

Creating a social media strategy is the key to your results. Making sure that you focus on the right channels and activities. Creating your user personas to target and helping your team to find tactics that lead to desired goals.
