Why has it taken me so long to join steemit?!

Good morning from Cape Town!

My name is Pia, I am currently living in Kalkbay, which is a quaint fishing village on the South Peninsula, with the man I believe to be my soul mate, David.

I added a steemit account last year and have finally got my act together to join this community, I must say after doing some exploring I'm blown away- and a little overwhelmed to be honest (there is a lot to learn, to figure out and a lot more to explore...)

I saw an article on this platform called "Steemit for dummies..." I will be reading into this !!

So, this is me:

Yay, the image is there.. took me a while. Hahaha.. as I said, I have a lot to learn :)

I was wondering what I would be writing about and I decided on "Life, food and everything inbetween," I have had a colourful life thus far, I have made mistakes, I have my struggles, my strengths and weaknesses.. which I will be sharing in further posts.

I feel on a platform like this, we can inspire and learn alot from one another, which is getting me super excited for my steemit journey.

I turned the big 30 last month, I am dutch by heritage but consider myself more South African to be honest, as I have been living in Cape Town for 27 years.

I have become in some ways more introverted over the last two years, by doing some soul searching I have come to realise I enjoy my own company, and spending quality time with the people I love way more than socialising now days..

I am living a clean and sober life which I have been doing since last year June. I have never been more satisfied, content and happy with life since doing so.. ofcourse sometimes I still go on the rollercoaster of life and have some really bad days, but overall my life has improved dramatically since I put the drink and drugs, by the grace of God, my sponsor, NA, and AA, I am over 15 months free from that life.

Life is worth living now, by being present, being grateful, kind and honest, I can be the best version of myself.. I dont always get it right but I make a concious effort to do so on a daily basis.

I have applied to study addiction counseling next year, so fingers crossed, I hope to get enrolled into next year February classes!

Currently, I am busy signing my apartment in Muizenberg (also in Cape Town,) up for holiday rentals on Airbnb, I will post photos of the final product at a later stage.. I must say painting an entire apartment is not for sissys... alot of blisters, time and paint went into the revamp of my apartment which I am very proud of.

David helped me for weeks on end, devoting his time and weekends to getting it in top notch, I am very blessed to have such a loving and supportive partner.

I am a qualified chef by trait, although I am not working as a chef anymore, I absolutely love food... soooo I will be posting photos, recipes I love and anything that inspires me at a later stage.

Thanks for reading,

With Love,

P
