My Application for Utopian Moderator: Meet shreyasgune, educator, administrator and explorer.
Meet shreyasgune !
I am shreyasgune, your friendly moderator at utopian.io. This is my first ever introductory post !! I will explain who I am and why I am suited to being a moderator at utopian.io
@elear, who is a good friend and mentor encouraged all moderators to write a formal application for being a moderator at utopian.io. This post is for the purpose of introducing myself so that my background and experience can be evaluated
Career and Education Background
I was a good student from my early days and had keen interest in computers. In fact, I owned my first computer in 1999 and used it as an aid to my studies. I went on to pursue a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and then a Masters degree in Structural Engineering. Even as a structural engineer, I have been working on various software for water resources and structural engineering for more than 6 years.
My real tryst with coding started when I did my Master's final project which involved use of python programming language for filtering of earthquake signals. Then I started working on professional structural design software. Slowly as I evolved in my professional career, especially in the last 2-3 years, I am basically managing small teams and guide them to achieve shared objectives.
This post may be considered as my application for leading a small team of moderators focused mainly on tutorial, video tutorials and suggestion categories. The reasons why I will be good at this are:
- I am good at teaching and guiding teams.
- I have been moderating at utopian.io for a long time.
- I have good knowledge for various rules and conventions of utopian.io platform.
- I have over 6 years for professional experience.
Me and Utopian.io !
I and utopian.io go long back. My first contribution on utopian.io was long time back (3 Months), when utopian.io used to receive very few contributions per day. One of my early contributions: Testing busy.org by deploying it through Heroku was so appreciated by Busy team that it was resteemed by Busy.org blog and is still used by many beginners for testing different webapps.
Eventually, I was offered job to moderate utopian.io contributions. Right now I have moderated 3% of all contributions to utopian and rank 8th (with respect to number of contributions moderated). In addition, I have made many friends and receive a lot of DMs on dischord. My list of followers have grown exponentially thanks to utopian.io.
My Vision for utopian
I feel as utopian evolves, it will grow into an incentivization platform which will not be limited to open source software, but will involve a large number of domains with an ultimate aim of improving human lives. As Smart Media Tokens come to steem blockchain, this vision on mine will surely come a step closer to achievement.
Final Notes
I am grateful that utopian.io gave me this wonderful opportunity to learn about various programming languages and open source software while working as a utopian moderator. I will continue to work hard and try to excel in all responsibilities given to me.
