Let me introduce myself:
Kia Ora, I'm Melissa Gould and I'm from New Zealand (aka Middle Earth, aka the bottom of the globe).
I'm so excited to part of the Steemit community, to read some great articles, and to follow some inspiring bloggers.
About Me
I'm blogging under the username SoWhat?
It's basically the question I ask, and I encourage others to ask, when they engage in media content.
By asking SoWhat? we can be critically engaged media consumers, rather than media sponges .
I'm passionate about helping people develop media literacy tools so they take back the power in their relationships with media content.
I do this by demonstrating how MEDIA MOMENTS ARE TEACHABLE MOMENTS.

But what does it all mean?
I studied at Auckland University of Technology in Auckland, New Zealand.
- Ph.D in Communication Studies - My thesis examined the appropriation of Christian Cultural Markers in Television Commercials.
- Masters (First Class) Communication Studies
- Honours (First Class) Communication Studies
- Bachelor Communication Studies - majoring in media communication theory and television studies
I also worked as a Media and Communications Lecturer at the School, and am now an independent researcher and writer.
My research and teaching areas include media communication theory and cultural studies that examine religion, gender, religion, and childhood.

I know how hard it is as a fresh account so you should try out @MinnowPowerUp where you can earn up to 30% more steem power than just powering up through steemit! It's a subscription based daily upvote bot that draws its power from a delegation pool.
