Official launch of SPECTACLES - A Steemit Follower Tracking App: Engage better with your followers
Finally today is the day we get to introduce SPECTACLES!
We went through our first, positive BETA testing phase and are very happy to officially announce SPECTACLES for public!
SPECTACLES provides relevant data which gives you more insights in the activity on your posts, so you can reciprocate and improve engagement between you and your followers.
Nice to meet you, we are @pilcrow and @sjennon.
Take a peek into the activity from your followers and dive into the underlying data which can’t be seen with the naked eye.
You can try on our SPECTACLES on www.steemspectacles.com.
Why do you need SPECTACLES?
Did you know your eyesight is actually pretty bad? What happens behind the Steemit curtain is simply a blur - we only know that we see our follower counter moving, as well as the upvotes on our posts. But who actually are these people? And have they visited my blog more often?
And these are not the only questions you might have been asking yourself...
Who abandoned you? Who has been loyally by your side? Who are the most influential followers, always bumping you up to a satisfying payout. Or who are useless followers because they haven’t been online in months now? What is the value of that follower who just uprooted your post? And how much did your followers up vote you each in total?
The more upvotes you get, the less insights you get into the activity on your posts. Steemit only provides you with a number and a summary of the 20 highest upvotes, but does not show you all your other loyal followers who are hidden below those first 20.
We wanted to create an application which gives you more insights in your followers and their activity when it comes to your posts. With this information, you can start communicating with your followers in more meaningful ways.
After all, Steemit is a community. It is give and take - and hopefully more give. But how can you give to the people who give to you, if you do not know who they are or how big of an influence they have on your posts are without you even realising?
This is where SPECTACLES comes into the picture. You can finally try on our fancy data specs!*
What does SPECTACLES do?
Insights: Get an overview of the activity of your followers when it comes to you and your last 100 posts. Find out which followers have been loyally upvoting you without you even noticing.
Engage and reciprocate: Once you’ve found out who are most valuable to your blog, you can put this information to good use. Start engaging with them! Steemit is about give and take. Give back to the people from you’ve been taking.
Grow: With the insights of SPECTACLES it is easier to care for your followers and grow friendships with your audience as well as it becomes easier to engage with new people.
Help us improve SPECTACLES
We are continuously working on SPECTACLES to improve and make it better and we are super hyped and psyched to find out what you guys think about it.
Do you have a suggestion?
Feel free to leave us a message on Steemit.Chat in the #spectacles channel!
If you are a simple Steemian who just likes to come up with this one idea, feel free to share it with us! We are completely open to ANY type of feedback to improve the usability and data of SPECTACLES.
Are you interested in providing us with occasional feedback?
You can become one of our valuable BETA Bunnies!
Hit us up in Steemit.Chat and we will make sure you’ll become a bunny.
What’s next?
Thanks to our BETA Bunnies and our user research this is not only what SPECTACLES can offer. We have a lot more features and improvements on our bucket list. These are the ones first in line!
- Improve the API for more accessible and faster data display;
- Display who and when resteemed your posts;
- Display your own upvote activity;
- Implementing your suggestions.
Stay tuned!
Stay tuned to our blog to stay up to date with our newest features and improvements. Cheers!

This looks really cool, I am going to check it out :)
absolutely amazing!
Great work :)
Thanks @valikos!
Great. This is exactly what I was looking for but didn't know who to ask. Would it be possible to give the same kind of information on the people I follow? I don't want to be following ghost users. Thanks for your hard work.
Yes, that's definitely in the works! Thanks for your suggestion :)
Thanks for provided this great tools
maybe i'm not understanding how this is calculated, but by these numbers, it appears i've only got three followers actively interacting with me (which i know is incorrect). am i just interpreting those numbers wrong?
All of your dead followers are also ghost followers. If they're not active they also haven't interacted with you. I think you have around 85 active followers. Does that sound more realistic?
ahhhh...that makes total sense. i had a feeling i was interpreting those numbers wrong. thanks for the clarification!
Awesome! I just check and it looks amazing, the design and interface is very user friendly, thanks for developing this tool.
Keep up the good work
