A Re-Introduction after 1 month of Steemit!! - Thoughts, Observations and Outlook so far..steemCreated with Sketch.

Well this Sunday makes it about exactly 4 weeks since I joined Steemit! So it was time for a re-introduction I guess, as I weigh out my expectations and outlook now that I have a decent feel of how this platform works. This topic is more or less what I pondered during my walk today, and some thoughts I had along the way.

As I look back on my introduction post I went on about Soundcloud and how I wanted to migrate all my music to Dsound, and so on as my primary reason for joining Steemit. But since experiencing life on Steemit, I'm inclined to think that over time I might actually migrate ALL social media to Steemit!!

I've attempted to break it down into 3 parts, which technically could be separate posts, but I'd rather use the #introduceyourself tag one final time.

Part I: Facebook vs Steemit Content

Perhaps it is the financial incentive to post/comment/upvote,but I just find the content so far on Steemit far superior to all the garbage, including advertising that I have to filter through on Facebook. I have seen all kinds of posts flying around here, which make Steemit a much better source of content during the daily work grind :)

I also notice myself (and others as well), seem to post a lot more liberally on this platform versus other platforms. Perhaps the slight ilusion of anonymity provided on Steemit helps with this. Which is great because it seems members are encouraged to reveal themselves to the public as they see fit, some choosing to remain completely anonymous.

So when I think of all the years on Facebook, and all the data I provided ad companies and whatever else, it's too bad there wasn't a better alternative.. Not that it bothers me that I didn't profit personally off the thousands of posts, likes, etc on Facebook, but more so the fact companies did/still do in a sneaky way.

Which includes every single search, location of click on the page, keystroke and so on. It's crazy shit.

Either way here we are on Steemit. I feel that many people, including myself, were hesitant to join a new platform given the comfort level of having other social media. From what I can tell, people would rather keep their thousands of instagram/twitter followers and keep posting on those accounts, even if Steemit would be infinitely more profitable/rewarding.

I was of the same mentality, which is why it took me 6 months to join in the first place!!

So it's really a question of what people value, and what I think is really the best part of Steemit is that the content creators are directly compensated, without any middleman, for their artwork/photography/writing/content, etc. This opens up all kinds of possibilities for creative people in this fucked up economy. What makes it even cooler is that the content is valued by the community, which is generally supportive and awesome.

Which leads me to the next part :

Part II: My outlook for posting on Steemit

Since I've had a month on this platform it's very interesting, as other people have noted, that you need a bit of luck for posts to get noticed as a minnow. But at the same time, the "energy" of your posts, imo definitely determine the overall outcome of your post.

For instance, when I was re-posting my Soundcloud music, as I was migrating to Dsound, those posts really didn't gather that many votes or attention at all. Maybe I didn't have that many followers or maybe sub-genres of reggae/dub and hip hop aren't exactly what's popular on new blockchain social media platforms, or simply bad post timing or whatever.

But it's also possible that it was simply a manifestation of my energy (or lackof). In more measurable terms , "interest level in my own post" that made said posts not get many upvotes. It's funny that it also reflects my current state of mind regarding music, as I'm taking some time off the whole music/DJ thing for a couple months while vacationing in Brazil.

In fact I was hoping to find another creative outlet, which naturally led me to :writing/ photography on Steemit. Two outlets that I usually haven't had time to develop or fully tap into due to the million other things that take up my time.

Smartphone photography and blabbing about random stuff ftw I guess :)

Since I have been looking for a creative output other than music for the next month or two before I head back to Europe, I decided to mess around with all the photos I have been hoarding over the years. Well to even rewind further in time, to when I had the brilliant idea of buying several blogs, of various interests of mine, that I planned on populating with content over the years.

I won't get into that, but lets just say I realized with Steemit that I finally had a platform to link all the various topics that I am into, in no particular order or fashion. So I did lose a bunch of money with those blogs and that's ok, as I'm much happier this came up.

So if anyone chooses to follow me please expect posts of a random nature, and in no particular order, regarding : music, travel stories, photography, music festivals, nature, cats, animals, humans, whatever I think of, etc.

In short, I plan on unloading a bunch of content on Steemit in the future, some of which I've had stored for a long time, since I seem to have finally found a cool place to share it!

I have kept track of most of my "digital nomad" life on some kind of loose notes/diary format, not counting the thousands of photos of all sorts of things, mostly between the countries of : Brazil, Canada, USA, Senegal, Serbia, Croatia, Netherlands, Spain, France, Italy, Bosnia, for now.

The plan since I got hooked on this @photocontests thing is to keep posting random photography collected on my smartphone, including a short tidbit about the picture when I can be bothered. Unfortunately there is no way in hell I can post all the contents of my travels and whatnot before I leave again in about a month and a half...

The idea was to try to unload everything before I start my next adventure, but since that is likely impossible, I will drop tidbits with some photos and follow up with a travel story, inna blogstyle, with the different chapters, etc...

I'm doing this partially because I enjoy writing and partially because friends have suggested that I tell people my stories since apparently they are "crazy as fuck".

I guess couchsurfing/camping through Serbia/Croatia while semi-unemployed and earning income via english teaching app on my smartphone for some pocketchange is not considered by most to be normal :) In any case, I dont want to bore people with old content so I will try to find a balance between the old content and the new content in real time.

Another thing to note is almost 95% of the content I have posted here and will post is not on Facebook or any other social media platform. The exceptions are of course my music which slowly but surely will make its way here, so I can finally cancel my Soundcloud subscription!

Sadly I will have to keep Facebook and Soundcloud open in the interim for promotional purposes/staying in touch, but I really wonder which day they will become obsolete...:)

Last but not least:

Part III: The Steemit Community

So far it's been really amazing and refreshing to meet so many people with such random and cool interests. It seems connections here are much more genuinely based on content and real life interests. Which I think is also what inspires people to put out such great content, since there is such an awesome and supportive community.

I've noticed this from interactions from within posts and comments, but also over on steemit.chat where not only are people superhelpful, but there is also a channel to promote your posts. This is a cool way to get a few extra views on your posts, provided you aren't spammy and/or annoying.

As for the general chat it's a pretty cool place to hang out with all kinds of interesting people. Aside from the occasional scammers/beggers, people are for the most part legit and helpful. I got great coding help and advice from some of the people on the general chat for posting pictures.

I also had an issue where I accidentally put the wrong chat screen name when I registered, which made it hard for people to find me on Steemit. Anyway, I asked around, the community pointed to me to someone who could help , and problem solved.

So I really like it so far how in touch the whole community is with the members/content, regardless of where people sit on the Steemit ladder so to speak. Everyone has been willing to help, give good tips and so far the experience has been great!

That pretty much does it, I apologize in advance for using the #introduceyourself tag as I figured the "1 month minnow grace period" would allow for it. Aside from I believe it to be relevant to this post and perhaps helpful/interesting for some of the new members of the Steemit community.

As I said earlier, I will be posting alot of travel content, some current and some from the past, including pictures/stories/guides and whatnot from my journey as a digital nomad over the past 10 years. Or i might wake up and post pictures of my cats, I dunno.

Thanks for reading!

Happy 1 month anniversary @stillmadic :D Didn't see your original introduction but I stumbled upon this one! Looking forward to the content you have already ready to be shared, followed :)

Welcome @stillmadic to Steemit on this reintroduction since I missed you the first time, which is about normal. I was mostly missed when I showed up a month ago. But if one works at it, it gets better. Yes work that post promotion over on chat, discord. I don't think its possible to get too much going until about 200 followers, so every good follower one can get is golden for the future.

I am not following anyone splitting their time between Brazil and Serbia and the rest of the world (if I am reading you right) so I will give you a follow to see what you come up with. Pop on by my little corner of the Steemit universe and say Hi if you get the chance. Minnows have to "school" together or get lost in this big wide creative Steemit ocean.

Thanks alot for the insightful comment, will check your stuff out, followed!

Welcome to Steemit (again) hope you're enjoying it here :)

Welcome to Steemit stillmadic. Let me know if you got any questions about Steem or anything related to it! The official FAQ can be found here and has A LOT of information https://steemit.com/faq.html - Also remember, Steemit is just ONE of the sites built that uses Steem the blockchain. We also have DTube - our very own Youtube, DSound for Soundcloud and Steepshot if you prefer Instagram like experience. I'd also like to mention ChainBB - forums, Busy - Steemit with more modern look basically, DMania for memes and Dlive for streaming just like in Twitch! Welcome to the blockchain
