Hillary Clinton's top economic adviser is an MIT professor who has advised the administrations of both President Obama and Bill Clinton.

The Wall Street Journal reported that Lawrence H. Summers, who is currently a professor at Harvard University and has been a member of the White House Council of Economic Advisers during the administration of former President George W. Bush, will serve as one of Clinton's top economic advisers if she wins the election.

Summers has been criticized for being too close to Wall Street in his past work with investment banks and hedge funds and for having a poor record on fighting poverty and inequality. He also served as president of Harvard from 2001 to 2006.
