Hello and welcome back to “My Life in Soccerverse”! Chapter seventeen should have been “just” another solid step in Inter’s march, with a professional home win over Monza and several of our Vault teams consolidating promotion pushes and top spots. Instead, the devs decide to drop, from absolutely nowhere and at almost mid-season, one of those infamous “ad minchiam” game engine updates on the Friday before matchday, and the result is a round full of crazy, borderline nonsensical outcomes that risk distorting a season just as we approach the halfway mark.

League Results – Saturday Matchday

🇮🇹 Inter

Monza arrive at San Siro in deep trouble, bottom of the table and clearly struggling, but that should never distract from the fact that they’re an awkward, well-organised side on their day. We approach the game with the right focus, De Vrij breaks the deadlock after just nine minutes and, from that point on, the scoreline doesn’t change any more: not a festival, but exactly the kind of controlled win you need when everyone around you is risking slipping on the new engine’s banana peels.

🇵🇱 Raków Częstochowa

With the Champions League defeat now behind us, there’s a strong desire to respond, and that feeling translates into a very solid performance away to Nieciecza, a newly promoted team who started well but are clearly fading. We play with authority, control the game and take full advantage of Korona Kielce’s surprise defeat, cutting the gap to the top of the Ekstraklasa table back down to just one point and putting ourselves right back in the conversation.

🇺🇦 Viktoriya Sumy

After the unlucky draw last time out, we face another opponent who aren’t exactly flying: Kolos Kovalivka are there to be punished if we do our job. We dominate from start to finish, camp in their half and keep knocking on the door, but only manage to finally break the deadlock around the 80th minute, climbing back up to second place despite having a game in hand on the teams chasing us.​

🇷🇴 Bihor Oradea

Alexandria come to visit, a mid-to-lower-table side who don’t offer too much in the way of resistance once we step on the accelerator. By the halfway point of the first half we have already created a comfortable cushion and then control the rest of the match without drama, and with Politehnica Timișoara slipping unexpectedly, we end the day top of the table alone for the first time in this promotion race.

🇷🇺 Amkar

Rodina Moskva sit second and are going strong, and despite the quality of the opponent we put in a really good performance that would, in most universes, have deserved more than a narrow defeat. Instead, the engine decides otherwise and we walk away empty-handed, with the gap to the third and final promotion spot stretching out to eight points and the feeling that we’ve been punished far beyond what actually happened on the pitch.​

🇹🇷 Denizlispor

Amed are an extremely technical side, with players who would do just fine in the top division while we’re still down in the third tier. The difference in individual quality comes through clearly: we lose with no real arguments to hide behind, and now we find ourselves just one point behind Amed in third and only three off fourth, in a promotion fight that has suddenly become a lot tighter than we would like.​

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Edinburgh City

We host Spartans and everything that matters happens in the first 36 minutes, a mad opening spell where we trade blows but end up on the wrong side of the exchange. After that the match calms down and chances dry up, leaving us with a defeat that stings more for the timing and the way it unfolded than for the actual gap in quality.​

🇬🇷 Panachaiki

We were supposed to bounce back from the four goals conceded in the previous match, but somehow we manage the unthinkable and concede ten in two games, as AEK Athens II visit and inexplicably put six past us. And this is exactly where the sudden game engine change feels like it has thrown reality out of the window.

🇦🇹 Krems

We travel to Leoben for what, on paper, looks like a balanced encounter, and instead we come back with a brutal, humiliating defeat that leaves a deep mark on our campaign. The 5–0 not only cuts our legs in terms of morale, it likely deals a serious blow to our chase for third place and promotion, which now sits seven points away and no longer feels just around the corner.​

🇧🇬 Sayana Haskovo

After five straight league wins the Sevlievo fixture is where the streak finally ends, in a match that is broadly even from start to finish. Neither side truly manages to grab the game by the throat, and we have to make do with a draw that slows us down but doesn’t knock us off our new-found promotion path.​

🇭🇷 Segesta Sisak

The alternating win-draw pattern finally breaks, but unfortunately it does so in the worst possible way: our first defeat of the season. Zrinski Jurjevac manage to edge us in a tight game, and while one loss in itself doesn’t erase what we’ve built so far, it does serve as a reminder that we can’t rely on that safety cushion forever, especially if the engine is going to start throwing curveballs.

🇫🇷 Dieppe

Away to Olympique de Valence, a direct rival for the upper spots, we are simply blown away. They hit us from all angles and the match quickly turns into a heavy, one-sided defeat that drops us down to fourth with no real mitigating factors: for once, we have to accept that the opponents were sharper, more clinical and absolutely ruthless.​

🇨🇿 Zlín

We host bottom-of-the-table Příbram in what should be exactly the kind of fixture you target to consolidate a promotion place, and instead we can’t find a way through and even flirt with disaster at the back. It ends in a frustrating draw that knocks us back out of the promotion zone once again, even if only by two points, leaving a bitter taste and the feeling that this is precisely where the new engine is messing with us the most.

Balance and outlook

This seventeenth chapter leaves a strange aftertaste: on the one hand, Inter keep doing their job with quiet authority, Raków and Viktoriya pick up important wins and Bihor finally climb alone to the top, confirming that the core of our project is solid. On the other, in the same weekend, Panachaiki ship ten goals in two matches, Krems are demolished, Dieppe are crushed in a direct clash and Zlín fail to beat the bottom side at home, all immediately after a Friday game engine update that feels, frankly, scandalous in its timing. Dropping a major gameplay change right before a full league round, almost at the halfway point of the season, doesn’t just look clumsy: it risks distorting months of work, skewing results and warping promotion and title races that had found their natural balance on the previous version. If there’s one clear takeaway from this chapter, it’s that the Victory Vault are strong enough to survive even an “ad minchiam” patch, but from here on out every point will have to be fought for not only against our opponents on the pitch, but also against whatever code the devs decide to throw at us on a random Friday.

Ciao e bentornati a “My Life in Soccerverse”! Il capitolo diciassette dovrebbe raccontare “solo” un altro passo solido dell’Inter, con la vittoria sul Monza e diverse squadre del Vault impegnate a consolidare corse salvezza e promozione. Invece i dev decidono di tirare fuori dal cilindro, dal nulla e quasi a metà stagione, uno dei soliti aggiornamenti “ad minchiam” al game engine il venerdì prima del turno, e il risultato è un weekend pieno di risultati folli, ai limiti del surreale, che rischiano seriamente di falsare mesi di lavoro.

Risultati – Turno di Campionato (Sabato)

🇮🇹 Inter

Il Monza arriva a San Siro in grandissima difficoltà, ultimo in classifica e con l’acqua alla gola, ma questo non deve far dimenticare il reale valore di una squadra ostica e comunque ben organizzata. Entriamo in campo con la concentrazione giusta, De Vrij la sblocca già al 9’ e da lì in poi il punteggio non cambia più: niente goleada, ma una vittoria pulita e controllata, esattamente quello che serve quando tutto il resto del gioco sembra scivolare sulla buccia di banana del nuovo engine.

🇵🇱 Raków Częstochowa

Archiviata la sconfitta in Champions, c’è voglia di riscatto e questa volta si vede: sul campo del Nieciecza, neopromossa partita forte ma in evidente calo, giochiamo con autorità e finalmente torniamo a far valere il nostro peso specifico. La vittoria diventa ancora più pesante grazie alla contemporanea sconfitta del Korona Kielce, che ci riporta a un solo punto dalla vetta e rimette il Raków pienamente nel discorso titolo.

🇺🇦 Viktoriya Sumy

Dopo il pareggio sfortunato dell’ultima gara affrontiamo un’altra squadra in momento non brillantissimo, il Kolos Kovalivka, e sulla carta è l’occasione perfetta da non fallire. Dominiamo in lungo e in largo, li schiacciamo nella loro metà campo e accumuliamo occasioni, ma riusciamo a rompere l’equilibrio soltanto all’80’, tornando comunque al secondo posto nonostante una partita in meno rispetto alle inseguitrici.

🇷🇴 Bihor Oradea

L’Alexandria, squadra di medio/bassa classifica, viene a farci visita e la sensazione è chiara fin da subito: se spingiamo, non c’è partita. Andiamo in controllo già nel primo tempo, indirizziamo il match e lo gestiamo senza affanni fino al triplice fischio. I tre punti pesano doppio perché, complice l’inaspettata sconfitta del Politehnica Timișoara, ci portano per la prima volta da soli in vetta alla classifica.

🇷🇺 Amkar

Il Rodina Moskva è secondo e sta volando, ma nonostante il valore dell’avversario mettiamo in piedi un’ottima prestazione che, in un mondo normale, meritava decisamente di più di una sconfitta di misura. Invece, complice anche l’aria strana portata dal nuovo engine, torniamo a casa senza punti e con la zona promozione che si allontana a 8 lunghezze dalla terza, un distacco che inizia a farsi pesante.

🇹🇷 Denizlispor

L’Amed è una squadra dal tasso tecnico altissimo, con giocatori che potrebbero tranquillamente stare in prima divisione mentre noi siamo ancora in terza. Il divario di qualità si vede tutto: usciamo sconfitti senza appelli e ora ci ritroviamo a un solo punto proprio dall’Amed terzo e con la quarta distante appena 3 punti. La corsa promozione è sempre apertissima, ma il margine di errore si è assottigliato parecchio.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Edinburgh City

Ospitiamo gli Spartans e succede praticamente tutto nei primi 36 minuti, un inizio gara frenetico in cui ci si colpisce a vicenda ma in cui, purtroppo, loro segnano un gol in più. Nel resto del match le occasioni diminuiscono e il risultato non si schioda più, lasciandoci con una sconfitta che fa male soprattutto per il modo in cui si è costruita in così poco tempo.

🇬🇷 Panachaiki

Dovevamo reagire ai quattro gol presi nella partita precedente, ma riusciamo nell’impresa di farne dieci incassati in due gare: arriva a trovarci l’AEK Athens II e ce ne rifila addirittura sei, in una partita che ha davvero poco di spiegabile. Ed è proprio qui che l’aggiornamento del game engine del venerdì dà l’impressione di aver lanciato tutto fuori asse.

🇦🇹 Krems

Andiamo sul campo del Leoben per una sfida che sulla carta doveva essere equilibrata, e invece torniamo a casa con un perentorio e umiliante 5–0 sulle spalle. Un passivo così pesante non solo ci taglia le gambe dal punto di vista mentale, ma rischia seriamente di compromettere la rincorsa al terzo posto promozione, che ora dista 7 punti e non è più quella distanza “a portata di mano” che sembrava fino a poco fa.

🇧🇬 Sayana Haskovo

Dopo cinque vittorie consecutive in campionato il Sevlievo è la squadra che ci dice che è il momento di fermarci. Ne esce una partita tendenzialmente equilibrata, senza grandi scossoni da una parte e dall’altra, che si chiude con un pareggio che rallenta la nostra corsa ma non la deraglia, lasciandoci comunque pienamente dentro al discorso promozione.

🇭🇷 Segesta Sisak

Finalmente si rompe il pattern che ci vedeva alternare una vittoria e un pareggio… peccato che lo faccia nel modo peggiore possibile, con la nostra prima sconfitta stagionale. Lo Zrinski Jurjevac riesce a spuntarla di misura e, se un singolo ko non cancella tutto quello costruito fin qui, ci ricorda però che non possiamo pensare di vivere di rendita all’infinito, soprattutto ora che il gioco ha cambiato le sue regole sotto traccia.

🇫🇷 Dieppe

Andiamo a far visita all’Olympique de Valence quarto in classifica e veniamo letteralmente asfaltati. Gli avversari ci colpiscono da tutte le parti e la partita si trasforma presto in una sconfitta pesantissima, che ci relega al quarto posto senza attenuanti: per una volta non ci sono scuse, loro sono stati più lucidi, più cattivi e tremendamente più cinici.

🇨🇿 Zlín

Ospitiamo il Příbram ultimo in classifica, la classica sfida che vuoi cerchiare in rosso per consolidare la zona promozione, e invece non riusciamo a buttarla dentro e rischiamo persino di perderla. Finisce con un pari amaro che ci fa scivolare di nuovo fuori dalla zona promozione, anche se solo di 2 punti, ma con la netta sensazione che sia proprio qui che il nuovo engine si sta divertendo a farci impazzire.

Bilancio e prospettive

Questo capitolo diciassette lascia un retrogusto stranissimo: da una parte l’Inter continua a fare il suo con autorità silenziosa, il Raków e il Viktoriya portano a casa vittorie pesanti e il Bihor si prende finalmente la vetta in solitaria, a conferma che l’ossatura del nostro progetto è solidissima. Dall’altra, nello stesso weekend, il Panachaiki incassa dieci gol in due partite, il Krems viene demolito, il Dieppe viene travolto in uno scontro diretto e lo Zlín non riesce a battere l’ultima in casa, tutto immediatamente dopo un aggiornamento di game engine calato dall’alto il venerdì sera. Un cambio così profondo a stagione in corso, e per giunta a ridosso di un turno pieno, non è solo discutibile: è potenzialmente scandaloso, perché rischia di falsare corse promozione e lotte al vertice che avevano trovato un loro equilibrio sul codice precedente. Se c’è una lezione chiara da portarsi via da questo capitolo, è che il Victory Vault è abbastanza forte da sopravvivere anche a una patch “ad minchiam”, ma da qui in avanti ogni punto andrà conquistato non solo contro gli avversari in campo, ma pure contro qualunque idea bizzarra decideranno di implementare i dev il prossimo venerdì sera.
