Le nuove misure che il governo cubano adottera' per lo sviluppo della propria economia avvicinano molto il paese al capitalismo.
Parliamoci chiaro, questo fenomeno e' in atto da anni, non a caso praticamente il 90/95% del terziario e' gia' in mano ai privati.
Ora pero' si parla di aprire a chiunque abbia voglia di investire quindi si prefigura, per i prossimi anni, una Cuba differente rispetto a quella che abbiamo conosciuto.
Non so se migliore o peggiore, sicuramente differente.

Chiaro che chi investira' dovra' poi pubblicizzare il prodotto, la Cuba senza pubblicita' ne' in tv ne' in strada e' destinanta a finire.
Quindi la Cuba che abbiamo conosciuto negli ultimi 30 anni diventera' un ricordo che ci porteremo dietro, ovunque saremo, che sia ancora a Cuba o altrove.
Ho scritto tante volte che se Cuba diventasse una Santo Domingo qualunque non so se mi piacerebbe ancora, ma a Santo Domingo ci sono migliaia di italiani, molti dei quali si sono spostati proprio da Cuba, italiani che se la passano piu' che bene, quindi forse non avevo tutte le ragioni a fare quel paragone.

Quello che voglio dire e' che ho conosciuto e ho vissuto in una Cuba che cercava una via differente rispetto a quello a cui il nostro mondo ci aveva abituato, una via piu' complicata ma anche infinitamente piu' pulita, piu' sana.
Che ora rinunci, del tutto o in parte, a perseguire quell'obiettivo non puo' non dispiacerci anche se mi rendo conto che quelle nostre speranze erano fatte sulla pelle dei cubani, gli stessi che ogni giorno sull'isola ci vivono.
Non sara' piu' quella Cuba, gia' oggi non e' piu' quella Cuba.
Comunque ce la siamo goduta.

Non sono uomo che vive di ricordi e nostalgie, sono curioso di sapere dove portera' tutto questo, spero che il governo sapra' armonizzare queste novita' con la vita delle persone, vita che oggi e' resa complicata dall'aumento senza senso di tutti i prezzi.
Sono pronto per la nuova Cuba, ogni tanto mi girero' indietro per ricordarmi di quella vecchia, ma il ricordo sara' anche figlio del fatto che tutti noi eravamo piu' giovani, forse oggi quella Cuba, a questa eta', mi affascinerebbe di meno, forse.
Mi manchera' comunque girare le strade cubane e trovare solo manifesti inneggianti alla Rivoluzione, magari fra un po' ci saranno quelli della Coca Cola o di Mc. Donald.
Mi fara' un certo effetto ma il tempo non torna indietro per nessuno.

Termino questo pezzo con la strofa finale di una vecchia canzone dei Nomadi, I 3 MITI.

The new measures the Cuban government will adopt to develop its economy bring the country much closer to capitalism.
Let's be clear: this phenomenon has been underway for years; it's no coincidence that practically 90-95% of the service sector is already in private hands.
Now, however, there's talk of opening it up to anyone willing to invest, so the coming years will reveal a Cuba different from the one we've known.
I don't know if it's better or worse, but certainly different.

It's clear that those who invest will then have to advertise their product; a Cuba without advertising, whether on TV or in the streets, is destined to disappear.
So the Cuba we've known for the last 30 years will become a memory we'll carry with us, wherever we are, whether still in Cuba or elsewhere.
I've written many times that if Cuba were to become just another Santo Domingo, I don't know if I'd still like it, but there are thousands of Italians in Santo Domingo, many of whom moved from Cuba, Italians who are doing more than well, so perhaps I wasn't entirely right in making that comparison.

What I mean is that I knew and lived in a Cuba that was seeking a different path than what our world had accustomed us to, a path that was more complicated but also infinitely cleaner, healthier.
That it now gives up, completely or partially, on pursuing that goal cannot help but displease us, even though I realize that those hopes of ours were built on the backs of Cubans, the same ones who live on the island every day.
It will never be that Cuba again; it already isn't that Cuba anymore.
In any case, we enjoyed it.

A lot.

I'm not a man who lives in memories and nostalgia; I'm curious to know where all this will lead. I hope the government will be able to reconcile these changes with people's lives, lives that today are complicated by the senseless increase in prices.
I'm ready for the new Cuba. Every now and then I'll look back to remember the old one, but the memory will also be a product of the fact that we were all younger. Perhaps today, at this age, that Cuba would fascinate me less, perhaps.
I will still miss walking the streets of Cuba and only seeing posters praising the Revolution; perhaps soon there will be Coca-Cola or McDonald's posters.
It will have a certain effect on me, but time doesn't go back for anyone.

I'll end this piece with the final verse of an old Nomadi song, "I 3 MITI."
