Hello Steemians! It’s @macinova again, and today I’m sharing something I truly enjoy *meatpie*. There’s something special about making meatpies from scratch. The process is simple, but the result is always rewarding.

Step 1: Preparing the Ingredients I started by gathering everything I needed. 1. For the pastry: flour, baking powder, margarine, a pinch of salt, and cold water. 2. For the filling: minced meat, onions, carrots, potatoes, green pepper, seasoning, and spices. Having all ingredients ready makes the process smooth and professional. I also preheated the oven to 180°C so it would be ready by baking time. Step 2: Making the Filling First, I sautéed chopped onions in a little oil until fragrant. Then I added the minced meat and cooked until it was no longer pink. I diced carrots and potatoes into small cubes and added them to the pan. I seasoned with salt, pepper, curry, and thyme. A little water was added to allow everything to cook through. Once the filling was thick and well-seasoned, I set it aside to cool. Cooling is important so the pastry doesn’t get soggy.

Step 3: Making the Pastry In a large bowl, I mixed flour, baking powder, and salt. I added margarine and used my fingers to rub it into the flour until it looked like crumbs. Then I gradually added cold water and kneaded until I had a smooth, firm dough. I covered the dough and let it rest for 15 minutes. Resting helps the pastry bake flaky and tender. Step 4: Shaping and Filling I rolled out the dough on a clean surface and cut it into circles. I placed a spoonful of the cooled meat filling in the center of each circle. Then I folded the dough over and pressed the edges with a fork to seal. This gives the meatpie its classic shape and keeps the filling inside.

Step 5: Baking I arranged the meatpies on a baking tray and brushed the tops with egg wash for a golden color. Into the oven they went for 25-30 minutes. The aroma that filled the kitchen was amazing. When they came out, the pastry was golden brown and flaky, and the filling was hot and savory. I allowed the meatpies to cool slightly before serving. They were perfect with tea. Baking at home gives you control over quality and taste, and it’s also a great way to unwind. Meatpie is more than cooking, it’s creativity and care.
