1000 DAYS OF STEEM — The Diary Game - 12/12/2025 - Recovery operation completed, successfully?

I've always had a sort of respect for money—not veneration, never that, but wasting money, throwing it away, never that either. So I'll tell you this little story: the glasses you see in these attached shots are mine. They were given to me almost by chance. At first, it was hard to get them to fit my face. They were narrow, but the person who gave them to me had found them somewhere. He didn't wear them, so he asked me if I liked them...

Actually, at first, a few years ago, they were my backup glasses, the ones I used if I couldn't find the other two, maybe three, I had. Then, for one reason or another, they gradually became my go-to pair of glasses, the ones I used on practically every occasion, except the most formal ones, which called for a slightly more elegant pair of glasses...

They've come a long way since then, they've accompanied me during my long work mornings, during informal leisure time, practically everywhere. They've even adapted, almost stretched, to my face, to the point that I didn't even notice how they'd managed to conform to my face, until a few days ago I noticed something that immediately set off alarm bells...

A large crack, a fissure, their fate seemed sealed, as sooner or later that crack would widen and they would break irreparably. And so it was, this morning, when the crack became irreparable and they were close to finally breaking. On top of all that, when I was about to retire them for good, I also noticed that they had broken in the profile of the frame of the right lens, so I'd lost the lens somewhere. I checked again and it had ended up in a pocket, where I kept them when I wasn't using them at work...

This evening, a lightbulb came to me. Considering that I still had all the components of these glasses, and they were intact—broken but intact—why not try gluing the pieces together and see if they hold up to the ultimate test, that is, during work sessions?

All said and done, tomorrow morning they'll have a new debut of sorts. I'm really curious to see how they'll perform under pressure, but let's just say they've already done their job admirably so far. Whatever they eventually do in this sort of next life will be even more...

Ho sempre avuto una sorta di rispetto per il denaro, non venerazione, questo mai, ma sprecare soldi, buttarli via, anche questo mai, per cui vi racconto questa piccola storia, degli occhiali che vedete in questi scatti che allego, sono i miei, mi sono stati regalati, quasi per caso, all'inizio è stata dura, adattarli al mio viso, erano stretti, ma chi me li ha regalati li aveva trovati, in giro, lui non li portava e allora mi ha chiesto se fossero di mio gradimento...

In effetti all'inizio furono, alcuni anni fa, gli occhiali di scorta, quelli che utilizzavo se non trovavo gli altri due, forse tre che avevo, poi, chi per un motivo, chi per un altro, piano piano sono sempre più diventati i miei occhi titolari, quelli che utilizzavo praticamente in tutte le occasioni, tranne quelle più ufficiali, che necessitavano di un paio di occhiali un po' più elegantini...

Di strada da allora ne hanno fatta tantissima, mi hanno accompagnato durante le mie lunghe mattinate lavorative, nei momenti di svago informali, praticamente ovunque, si sono pure adattati, come allargati, sul mio viso, al punto tale che non ho fatto caso a come avessero fatto, a rendersi più conformati al mio viso, finché pochi giorni fa ho notato un qualcosa, che ha fatto scattare immediatamente dei segnali di allarme...

Una bella crepa, una fessura, il loro destino appariva come segnato, in quanto prima o poi quella crepa si sarebbe allargata e si sarebbero irrimediabilmente rotti, così è stato, questa mattina, quando la crepa è diventata irreparabile ed erano ormai prossimi allo schianto definitivo, in aggiunta al tutto, quando li stavo per pensionare definitivamente, mi sono pure accorto che si erano schiantati nel profilo della montatura della lente destra, per cui avevo perso la lente da qualche parte, ho ricontrollato ed era finita in una tasca, dove li riponevo quando non li utilizzavo durante il lavoro...

Questa sera è scattata la lampadina, l'idea, visto e considerato che avevo ancora tutti i componenti di questi occhiali ed erano interi, rotti ma interi, perché non provare a incollare le parti e vedere se tengono la prova del nove, cioè durante le sessioni lavorative?

Detto e fatto, domani mattina avranno una sorta di nuovo debutto, sono proprio curioso di vedere come si comporteranno sotto pressione, ma diciamo che il loro lavoro l'hanno già svolto più che egregiamente finora, quello che eventualmente faranno in questa sorta di ulteriore vita sarà tutto in più...
