Tether non vuole più essere “solo” l’emittente di USDT.

Vuole fare parte del mondo Bitcoin!

Infatti, ha rilasciato MiningOS, un sistema operativo open source per il mining di Bitcoin. (Rif.)

Gratuito, modulare, scalabile, utilizzabile sia dal miner domestico sia da impianti industriali.

Insomma, tutto bello sulla carta, se davvero facilita l’ingresso di nuovi miner, soprattutto piccoli e medi, potrebbe essere un passo verso maggiore resilienza della rete.

E sappiamo bene quanto la decentralizzazione del mining sia fondamentale per Bitcoin.

MiningOS è open source (licenza Apache 2.0) e self-hosted e questo vuol dire che chiunque può usarlo e adattarlo, senza dipendere da fornitori esterni.

Però, non posso non avere qualche dubbio...

Tether già oggi domina il mercato delle stablecoin, accumula Bitcoin e oro, investe in AI e tokenizzazione e adesso vuole entrare anche nell’infrastruttura di mining.

È chiaro che Tether con questa mossa diventerà sempre più centrale nell’ecosistema attorno a Bitcoin.

Però Bitcoin sarebbe nato per ridurre i centri di potere.
Che succede quando attori enormi dell’ecosistema iniziano a occupare sempre più spazi strategici?

Da un lato, se MiningOS verrà adottato da tanti piccoli miner, sarà un bene per tutti.

Dall'altro, se lo useranno soprattutto grandi operatori già strutturati, allora sarà solo un ulteriore tassello di potere nelle mani di un gigante.

Insomma, Il codice è aperto, ma le dinamiche di mercato non lo sono.
E chi ha capitali, infrastrutture e influenza resta sempre un passo avanti.

Non posso negare che è una mossa positiva per l’ecosistema, ma secondo me, va osservata nel tempo, perché open source non significa automaticamente decentralizzato.

Il codice può essere pubblico, ma se sviluppo e direzione restano nelle mani di pochi… il potere tende comunque a concentrarsi.

Come sempre, serviranno tempo e pazienza...

Tether already dominates the stablecoin market, holds Bitcoin and gold, invests in AI and tokenization and now it wants to enter the mining infrastructure as well.

It’s clear that with this move, Tether will become even more central in the ecosystem around Bitcoin.

But Bitcoin was created to reduce centers of power.
What happens when huge actors in the ecosystem start occupying more and more strategic spaces?

On one hand, if MiningOS is adopted by many small miners, it will be good for everyone.

On the other hand, if it’s mainly used by large, established operators, it will just become another piece of power in the hands of a giant.

In short, the code is open, but market dynamics are not.
And those with capital, infrastructure, and influence always have a head start.

I can’t deny it’s a positive move for the ecosystem, but in my view, it needs to be watched over time, because open source doesn’t automatically mean decentralized.

The code can be public, but if development and direction remain in the hands of a few… power still tends to concentrate.

As always, it will take time and patience…
