Ciao a tutti amici e amiche di Italy e di Steemit.

Possiamo credere all'ottimismo dei CEO Tech sull'Intelligenza Artificiale?

Ufficialmente raccontano un domani di abbondanza e post-scarsità, l'IA lavorerà per tutti noi e potremo goderci la vita in serenità.

Eppure è rimasta famosa la frase di Sam Altman, di OpenAI, nel 2015:

"L’intelligenza artificiale porterà molto probabilmente alla fine del mondo, ma nel frattempo nasceranno grandi aziende."

Insomma, i ricchi intanto continueranno ad arricchirsi, poi succeda quel che succeda!

Sempre più CEO tech sono convinti che l’intelligenza artificiale automatizzerà una quantità enorme di lavori, rendendo sempre più difficile, se non impossibile, arricchirsi in modo tradizionale in futuro.
Da qui l’idea che questo sia l’ultimo momento utile accumulare capitale, costruire patrimoni, mettersi al sicuro.

Chiaramente non riguarda noi poveri comuni mortali che già oggi fatichiamo a sopravvivere con stipendi sempre più poveri.

Ed è qui che mi si è accesa una lampadina...perché questa storia del non sapere cosa accadrà, l’abbiamo già vista tante volte in passato.
Con plastica e fossili per esempio.

Già negli anni ’70 esistevano studi che evidenziavano i danni ambientali della plastica, ma quelle ricerche sono rimaste nei cassetti per decenni. (Rif.)

Ed è sempre lo stesso schema anche oggi: quando un’industria vede profitti enormi, i danni vengono studiati in anticipo, minimizzati in pubblico e poi scaricati nel tempo sulla società.

Quindi, davvero vogliamo credere che oggi, con l’IA, non esistano già simulazioni serie sull’impatto sociale, sul lavoro, sull’energia e sul clima?
Considerando quante risorse consuma e quanta concentrazione di potere genera?

Semplicemente non conviene renderle pubbliche.
Perché una regola nel tempo non è mai cambiata che il profitto viene prima di tutto.

Però, rispetto al passato, c'è una piccola differenza e cioè che qui non parliamo solo di inquinamento o clima.
Parliamo di lavoro, reddito, controllo, dipendenza tecnologica.
E il ritmo è folle, molto più veloce di qualsiasi tecnologia passata.

Comunque, non scrivo questo post per fare terrorismo o per dire che andrà tutto male.
Ma perché penso che che conoscere anche le cose scomode sia una forma di difesa.
L’ottimismo cieco non ha mai protetto nessuno.

Forse il punto non è fermare il progresso, è impossibile, ma smettere di raccontarci che chi sta spingendo sull’acceleratore lo fa solo per il bene comune.

A questa élite di super miliardari l’impatto sociale dell’IA interessa poco.
Non perché non lo comprendano, ma perché non lo subiranno.

Un futuro di disoccupazione di massa e tensioni sociali non è una minaccia per chi ha già accumulato abbastanza da isolarsi dalle conseguenze.

Mentre il resto della popolazione affronta l’instabilità, loro mettono al sicuro sé stessi e le generazioni future.

Forse è arrivato il momento di smettere di affidare il nostro futuro a chi fa già parte di questa élite, ormai completamente scollegata dalla realtà quotidiana.
Perché a pagare il prezzo delle loro scelte scellerate siamo sempre noi cittadini.

Can we trust the optimism of Tech CEOs about Artificial Intelligence?

Officially, they paint a future of abundance and post-scarcity: AI will work for all of us, and we’ll be able to enjoy life in peace.

Yet the famous quote by Sam Altman of OpenAI from 2015 still resonates:

“Artificial intelligence will most likely bring about the end of the world, but in the meantime, great companies will be born.”

In short: the rich will keep getting richer, and then, whatever happens, happens.

More and more tech CEOs are convinced that AI will automate a huge number of jobs, making it increasingly difficult - if not impossible - to build wealth in the traditional way.
From this comes the idea that this is the last real chance to accumulate capital, build fortunes, and secure yourself. (Rif.)

Clearly, this doesn’t concern us ordinary people, who already struggle to get by on shrinking salaries.

And this is where a lightbulb went off for me… because this story of not knowing what will happen is something we’ve seen many times before.
Think plastic for example.

Back in the 1970s, there were studies highlighting the environmental damage caused by plastic, but these findings were shelved for decades. (Rif.)
Companies knew, yet they chose to push the industry forward anyway.

And it’s the same pattern today: when an industry sees enormous profits, the risks are studied in advance, downplayed in public, and then passed on to society over time.

So do we really want to believe that today, with AI, there aren’t already serious simulations of its social, labor, energy, and climate impact?
Considering how many resources it consumes and how much concentration of power it generates?

It simply isn’t convenient to make them public.
Because one rule that has never changed over time is that profit comes first.

But compared to the past, there’s a small difference: here we’re not just talking about pollution or climate.
We’re talking about jobs, income, control, technological dependence.
And the pace is insane - far faster than any previous technology.

That said, I’m not writing this post to spread fear or claim that everything will go wrong.
I write it because I believe knowing even the uncomfortable truths is a form of defense.
Blind optimism has never protected anyone.

Perhaps the point isn’t to stop progress - that’s impossible - but to stop telling ourselves that those pushing the accelerator are doing it solely for the common good.

This elite of super-billionaires cares little about AI’s social impact.
Not because they don’t understand it, but because they won’t be the ones to face it.

A future of mass unemployment and social tension is no threat to those who have already accumulated enough to isolate themselves from the consequences.

While the rest of the population deals with instability, they secure themselves and future generations.

Maybe it’s time to stop entrusting our future to those who are already part of this elite, completely disconnected from everyday reality.
Because the ones who pay the price for their reckless choices are always us, the citizens.
