La Gen Z: ribellione digitale. / Gen Z: Digital Rebellion. [ITA/ENG]
Ciao a tutti amici e amiche di Italy e di Steemit.
Ho letto un articolo veramente interessante e soprattutto incoraggiante: Gen Z sta rinunciando ai social, (Rif.).
Ma la cosa che mi colpisce di più non è soltanto il fatto che la generazione Z stia mollando i social, ma è perché lo sta facendo!
Questi ragazzi non hanno mai conosciuto un mondo senza Instagram, TikTok, app di dating, notifiche continue.
Per loro è sempre stato così. Eppure qualcosa si è rotto.
Sempre più giovani raccontano di sentirsi stanchi, svuotati, appiattiti, intrappolati nel confronto costante con vite perfette e filtri irreali.
Sono alla ricerca del benessere mentale.
La cosa interessante è che non stanno “tornando indietro”. Anche perché non conoscono il passato.
Stanno semplicemente mettendo dei limiti.
Usano app di digital detox, riducono il tempo sui social, cercano relazioni offline, club senza smartphone, silenzi condivisi.
È quasi paradossale: usano la tecnologia per difendersi dalla tecnologia.
E forse è qui il punto chiave. Non è rifiuto del digitale, della tecnologia. Si tratta soltanto di autodifesa.
Siamo noi adulti ad avere normalizzato qualcosa che normale non è mai stato e loro, semplicemente si stanno ribellando a una normalità che non hanno scelto.
Certo, non sanno com’era la vita prima dei social, questo privilegio spetta alle generazioni precedenti... a cui faccio parte anche io.
Però stanno provando a immaginare come potrebbe essere una vita più libera e meno condizionata dal mondo digitale.
A me sembra ci stiano dando un segnale forte!
Forse sono più lucidi e forti di quanto abbiamo mai voluto riconoscere.
Inizio a chiedermi... e se fossero proprio loro a farci capire dove stiamo esagerando?

I’ve read a really interesting - and above all encouraging - article: Gen Z is giving up social media (Ref.).
But what strikes me the most is not just the fact that Gen Z is stepping away from social media, but why they are doing it.
These young people have never known a world without Instagram, TikTok, dating apps, constant notifications.
For them, this has always been the norm. And yet, something has cracked.
More and more young people say they feel tired, drained, flattened, trapped in a constant comparison with perfect lives and unrealistic filters.
They are searching for mental well-being.
What’s interesting is that they’re not “going back.” They can’t - they don’t know the past.
They’re simply setting boundaries.
They use digital detox apps, reduce time on social media, look for offline relationships, smartphone-free clubs, shared silences.
It’s almost paradoxical: they use technology to defend themselves from technology.
And maybe this is the key point.
It’s not a rejection of the digital world or of technology. It’s simply self-defense.
We adults are the ones who normalized something that was never truly normal - and they are simply rebelling against a normality they never chose.
Sure, they don’t know what life was like before social media. That privilege belongs to previous generations… myself included.
But they’re trying to imagine what a freer life, less conditioned by the digital world, could look like.
To me, they’re sending us a strong signal.
Maybe they are more clear-headed and stronger than we ever wanted to acknowledge.
And I’m starting to wonder…
what if they’re the ones showing us where we’ve gone too far?
