L’International Beer & Pizza Day, è la giornata internazionale che rende omaggio a una delle combinazioni di cibi e bevande più iconiche al mondo: la birra e la pizza.

Tra le tante celebrazioni poteva mai mancare quella dedicata a birra e pizza? Certo che no: infatti il 9 ottobre si celebra il giorno l’International Beer & Pizza Day, la giornata internazionale che rende omaggio a una delle combinazioni di bevande e cibi più iconici al mondo: birra e pizza.

Il Beer & Pizza Day è nato nel 2016 da un'idea di un designer di siti Web, Nick Saulino. Amante delle pinte di birra e delle fette di pizza, Saulino ha deciso che l'abbinamento meritava un giorno tutto suo. Ci ha creduto così tanto che si è dato da fare affinché il Beer and Pizza Day diventasse ufficiale.

La combo perfetta
La storia della pizza ha origini antichissime, anche se è solo nell’ultimo secolo che il sapido disco di pasta, mozzarella e pomodoro s’è involato nell’olimpo gastronomico mondiale. Piatto simbolo dell’italianità nel mondo, l’arte di farla è stata persino riconosciuta patrimonio dell’umanità Unesco.
L’origine della parola “birra” potrebbe persino derivare dall’antico tedesco "bior" o "beor", che a sua volta potrebbe derivare dal sassone "bere" che significa orzo, oppure dal latino "biber", che significa bevanda.
Vero è che esistono le giornate che celebrano singolarmente la pizza e la birra: il 17 gennaio è infatti la Giornata Mondiale della Pizza. Una data simbolica per gli artisti dei lieviti, non a caso ricorre nel giorno di Sant’Antonio Abate, considerato protettore di fornai e pizzaioli.
La Giornata Mondiale della birra si celebra, invece, ogni primo venerdì di agosto. La festività è nata nel 2007 a Santa Cruz, in California. Oggi viene festeggiata in 80 nazioni dei 6 continenti....

Beer & Pizza Day was created in 2016 from an idea by website designer Nick Saulino. A lover of pints of beer and slices of pizza, Saulino decided that the combination deserved a day of its own. He believed in it so much that he worked hard to make Beer and Pizza Day official.

The perfect combo
The history of pizza has ancient origins, although it is only in the last century that the savoury disc of dough, mozzarella and tomato has taken off in the world gastronomic Olympus. A dish that symbolises Italianness around the world, the art of making it has even been recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The origin of the word “beer” may even derive from the Old German “bior” or “beor”, which in turn may derive from the Saxon “bere”, meaning barley, or from the Latin “biber”, meaning drink.

It is true that there are days dedicated to celebrating pizza and beer individually: 17 January is World Pizza Day. This is a symbolic date for pizza makers, as it coincides with the feast day of Saint Anthony the Abbot, considered the patron saint of bakers and pizza makers.
World Beer Day, on the other hand, is celebrated on the first Friday of August. The holiday began in 2007 in Santa Cruz, California. Today, it is celebrated in 80 countries on six continents....
