Newfoundland traditional jam jams!!
Here in Newfoundland one of our traditional treats is jam jams. So I’d like to share mine and my moms homemade recipe.
Ingredients,
3/4cup— of brown sugar
3/4cup— of butter
1egg
1/2 cup of molasses
2cups— of flour
1/4 tsp— of salt
2tsp— of baking powder
1 tbsp— of jam per cookie
Sift dry ingredients and set aside,
Mix cream butter and sugar add the egg and molasses till mixed. Then add into the dry ingredients until a soft dough forms. Cool the dough over night then cover a surface with flour so it doesn’t stick then roll dough out onto the floured surface. Then cut into a cookie shape and cut out a little hole in the center if half the cookie shapes.(hole in top is optional)
Bake cookie shapes at 350f for 10-12 minuets after the 10-12 minuets spread your favourite jam onto the cookie bottom (doesn’t have the hole on top) then press the top cookie onto it and place back in oven for another 2-3 minuets and then let cool!

Thank you for sharing this recipe.
With love from me,
