The first time I was there (years before I ended up living there) The post Ruble Koupon went from 1200/USD to 640000/USD in less than 3 months. It looked and felt like monopoly money. We took our perdiem in daypack loads of banded bank stacks. But I soon realized with currency exchange booths on every corner, and literally 0 tourism... Ukraine was completely running on the USD.
