Things to do in Koh Tao: travelling with a toddler
Koh Tao, divers paradise is 1.5-3 hrs from Koh Samui (depending on which pier you depart from). You can get here via Ferry. You can also continue your travels here if you are staying at Koh Phagnan.
Koh Tao is known for their diving locations across the island. It is also a lot cheaper to attain your divers certificate here. Something I would love to do, unfortunately it will have to wait until my son is either old enough to dive or when we travel with someone (a reason to revisit😁).
We will be departing Koh Samui at 8am from Maenam pier (a little bit further away but cuts an hr off our travel time) and arriving in Koh Tao at 9.30am. We will be staying in Koh Tao for 4 full days before departing to Patong.
Our second last stop 😢 and I can almost guarantee that it will fly by. By now we would have embarked on 4 weeks of travelling through Southeast Asia. Only 2 more weeks to go and I wish we could stay longer. Everyone talks about being home sick, well I get the holiday blues. Time is never long enough when travelling.
Our first Multistop holiday and we are probably going to be exhausted (if you haven't been following us, check out our itinerary). But what's a holiday without exploring all the beauty the world has to offer. We will recover when we get home. First stop Bangkok, followed by Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Singapore, Koh Samui, Koh Phangan and then Koh Tao.
Koh Tao is a small island. You can travel from bay to bay via long tail boat (which will probably be faster and more scenic). With loads of bays and beaches to see, we will basically be beach hopping, snorkelling and eating for 4 days, and now you can see why I get the holiday blues!
Here is a list of all the things we will attempt to tick off:
- Sairee beach
- Mango bay (aow muang)
- Laem Thian
- Mao bay
- Tanote bay
- Shark bay
- Sai daeng beach
- Aow Leuk beach
- Chalok baan kao bay (southern end jor por por big rocks)
- John suwan viewpoint
- Sai nuan beach
- Jansom bay (200thb)
- Ko nang yuan viewpoint
- Ko nang yuan (pic above)
Follow us as we take on Southeast Asia. You can also follow us on Instagram @born2explore to check out our daily grind.
Last stop Patong.
Ahh Koh Nang Yuan is a wonderful place :)
I am hoping we will get to spend most of the day here...but there is so much to see! Have you been to tanote and surrounding. We would have to kayak to the other 2 bays but looks amazibg for snorkelling
